LanceBijeaux 6 Posted December 20, 2010 What amount are you people eating 1 cup, 1.5 cup per meal? I feel like I am eating 2 cups per meal and I am still losing. I am trying to figure out if its my metabolism thats on fire or me going to the gym faithfully everyday . I would love to know if anyone is feeling the same way. I have a APS band 10cc with 2ccs and ive never had a fill yet.
honk 780 Posted December 20, 2010 I am at 8 CC in an 11 band. My nut told me to have 3 oz of Protein (Buy a digital scale that allows you to zero out the weight of the plate. Makes life so much easier. You can buy them at Walmart, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Weight Watchers); and to have 1 cup of veggies.
JJLaw08 4 Posted December 20, 2010 I probably eat around 1/2 cup of food per meal. Sometimes at night I can eat a little more.
summer134 23 Posted December 20, 2010 I too was worried about eating more that I thought that I should -- it was taking me a little more than the 1/2 to 1 1/2 cups that people on here said they ate to get full. However I was still losing weight. I talked to the nurse at my dr and she said each person is different in their weight loss journey. Don't worry about what other people are eating or try to compare yourself. Everyone's metabolism is different and it takes different amounts of food. So as long as you're losing you're doing something right! Keep up the good work!

I have a APS band 10cc with 2ccs and ive never had a fill yet. You are only supposed to be able to get in 4-6 oz.. Sometimes depending what the food is I feel like I can get in a lil more - while everyone is different you just do not want to over eat - and get sick. Also despite you are losing now..it will slow down and you will get a fill and have to decrease your meal size. Unfortunately its the time to be honest with yourself and after 4 oz of food really ask yourself do you need to eat more..are you really hungery. The sooner you begin to cut your portions the easier it will be for you to adjust to eatting smaller portions and be successful with the band. In addition I was under the impression from my nutrionist and dr that you do not want to put more food in the stomach because it could stretch out and be able to take in more food. Well I hope this was helpful
isaviolinist 11 Posted December 20, 2010 I agree with those who said everyone is individual. I definitely eat more than 1/2 cup of food at night. However in the morning/afternoon, I can't really eat much of anything solid and so I have a Protein shake at noon and thats pretty much it (and it keeps me satisfied). Depending on the Protein (I don't eat pork, red meat or poultry), I can eat between 2.5-8 ounces. Its a pretty big range. Tofu I can eat 6-8 ounces, overcooked or meaty fish (like swordfish) I can eat 2-3 ounces (I try not to eat overcooked fish...its gross), flaky fish I can eat anywhere between 3-6 ounces depending on the day, I can easily eat 8 ounces of King crab. With veggies, I can eat a lot (unlimited amount of lettuce and other greens, etc). It just depends. I eat between 850-950 calories per day, exercise tons, and lose between 2-4 pounds per week (my average loss from mid-October to the beginning of Dec was 3.7 pounds a week...Ill reassess again towards the end of January). Everyone is individual and should do what works for them. If you're losing and feeling good/not feeling sick and improving your relationship with food, then keep doing what you're doing! AlienBandit 10 Posted December 21, 2010 I used to measure my food out sometimes but also tried to listen to my stomach for full feeling etc. After a while I stopped measuring because I was using smaller dishes so I guessed them to be able to hold 1 cup worth of food. I would never eat more then what those items would hold. A few weeks ago I was baking and grabbed what I thought was my 1 cup measuring cup to get flour only to find my true 1 cup measuring cup still in the flour bag! Turns out I had been measuring and eating up to 1/2 a cup of food and I didn't even know it. Everyone is different really because our stomachs are different, our bands are different and our fills are different.
Pamalamadingdong 0 Posted December 21, 2010 It is probably a combo of everything, eating less working out more and a boosted metabolism. You sound like one of the lucky ones who can keep his eating in check with minimal restriction. I would venture a guess at this point and say, until(if) you plateau what you are doing is what you need to be doing.
Hartsdream 1 Posted December 21, 2010 I know this sounds crazy but I take 2 gummies with immunity support from Walmart a day - 1000 units of Gummie D3 - 2000 Gummie of C every day. Plus I can't keep nothing down so I actually have one strawberry shake from Mc Donald every day 560 calories. Plus 2 oz of meat thru out the day. I loose about 3 lbs a week. It works for me. I get regular blood work done every other month to make sure I am getting enough Vitamins and my thyroid meds are still working.

I get regular blood work done every other month to make sure I am getting enough Vitamins and my thyroid meds are still working. I am not trying to sound hard but drinking a milkshake a day may work but in the long run it is unrealistic. You can take all the Vitamins in the world but you are not getting much solid in at all and defeating the purpose of the band. I had the same surgeon as you and I promise you if he knew that you couldn't keep anything down, he would take a little out. The weight loss is nice right now but this is a lifestyle not a temporary fix. strawberry shakes will get boring and unhealthy. I live in Louisville as well. I have lost 82 lbs and eat most things just very little of it and I am very tight in my band. I was banded January 8th.
joatsaint 2,814 Posted July 27, 2015 Here's a typical day's food for me. I've been eating pretty much this amount everyday since my 1 year surgerversary. :-)
