I slept on my side the day of surgery and for two days after. After that, I slept on my tummy. Do it when it feels comfortable for you.

i'm a belly sleeper too. for the first few days after surgery i slept on my side with a small pillow under my belly. after 3 days i just slept on my stomach and felt fine. if it doesn't hurt... you should be fine!

I am a belly sleeper too...I still can't sleep on my belly...Too uncomfortable. I have one incision that is hitting a nerve and hurts when I even touch it. I had surgery on 12/6. I wish I could sleep on my belly for a really good night sleep!!!!

I've been sleeping on my back since surgery and it's been terrible! I have had trouble attempting to sleep on my side because of pain in one of my incision points. I'm hoping and praying to be able to sleep on my stomach again in the next few weeks. I need sleep!

You are experiencing the same thing I am going through. I have only been able to sleep on my right side and it is very uncomfortable. I cant wait until I am able to not only sleep on my belly but sleep period...:) thats another post

I started to 4 or 5 days after. I guess as long as there isn't pain! Took me a few days to be able to roll over easily

Everyone is different as our bodies heal different. I slept on my stomach maybe a week after surgery but after banded the second time I slept on my stomach right away. I understand how hard it can be when you can get comfortable.

It was hard for me to roll onto my stomach but when I finally did things felt better.

Good luck :)

So happy about this thread. I was banded yesterday and have always been a stomach sleeper. I slept last night on my side but woke up every couple of hours. I hope I feel well enough in a few more days to try sleeping on my stomach and get a really good nights sleep.

It took me a good couple months before I could sleep on my stomach again - it even took me a while to be able to sleep on my left side.

I was banded 7/16/10 and have no problems sleeping on my belly or left side but it is very uncomfortable still to sleep on my right side, which is the side my port is on.

I used my daughters pillow pet to prop my right side for several weeks after surgery to help me feel as though I was on my belly completely. It worked great!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
