Need Motivation .........

Recommended Posts

I had to have my fill removed the beginning of November for my surgery to remove my tonsils. I did good mainly because I couldn't eat after surgery. Thanksgiving was okay, didn't go crazy. I went back in on December 2nd and they put 4.5cc of my fill back in. I felt a little restriction that day but could gulp down a bottle of Water with no problem. I am scheduled to go in for another fill on December 30th but I have absolutely NO restriction.

I had 6.6cc in a 10cc band before the surgery and when she put the 4.5 cc in she said there was still 1 cc in there.

I need restriction but cannot get appt moved up due to no availability. This Christmas baking for gifts is very frustrating. I'm shoving them in my husband's mouth to sample so I don't give out something that tastes like yuck-o to friends but the scale just keeps going up. I'm hungry all the time.

So frustration and have put on 12 pounds since tonsil surgery........... encouragement? advise? I'm open to anything..........

I think we've all had set backs at one time or another, or will experience them at point in our journey, if we haven't yet. the few times i've been discourged or thought the worst, as in I'll mess this up and go back to the way i was I try to remember the banding basics. I got out akk of my lapband literature and re-read it. 3 small meals a day, eat Protein first, lots of Water, no eating and drinking at the same time... all the basics and it puts me back on track. in addition I seek help from other bandsters like you have done. good luck!

god bless,

Rebecca

I have definitely had times like these when I thought I had ruined all my progress, but as Rebecca said, going back to the basics really helps with the way you feel AND with the weight loss. It's definitely easier when you know your "co-pilot" is working as it should and doing its part in helping you along the way, but keep doing your part until you get a decent restriction level and you will feel better. I am sorry you're suffering with hunger. Just keep plenty of veggies and string cheese handy. Actually, I used to do 2 sugar free pudding cups, a little FF cool whip and a scoop of chocolate Protein powder 2 x per day and it was a low calorie, high Protein snack that tasted like chocolate mousse. Have that on hand with all the cookie baking LOL. You need to just find ways to get by right now. I feel for you. Hang in there!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
