What is your favorite alcoholic beverage post banding?

Recommended Posts

Dh and I are going out tomorrow night for our wedding anniversary. I rarely ever drink, in fact it's been over a year now since I've had anything but I'd like to have something tomorrow night.

I don't like beer or wine. My favorite thing to drink was always rum or vodka mixed with diet coke.

Any recs for a good drink I could try?

 Happy Anniversary to you!!!!! I was told not to have any carbonated beverages and to stay away from them. Also for the alcohol at least 6 months but since this is a wonderful occasion I'd recommend the vodka and cranberry juice or any of your personal favorites to go with the vodka. I'm not sure if you're into fruitty but you may want to try Malibu (which is a caribbean rum) with orange juice and a splash of pineapple juice. That's good and very light.... Hope those help, and enjoy your fabulous evening with the hubby.....cheers

Since being banded, I don't drink that often. But when I do, I make sure to make it worth my while. Since I will only be having one...I have premium spirits. I like Ketel One Vodka. I will get a cosmo, or a lemon drop martini.....Althought I like them, .I stay away from margaritas as I think it has too many calories.

For a special occasion....select something non carbonated and enjoy.

Congrats by the way.....

Hummm, which ones don't I like would be a shorter list.

I'm a cosmopolitian kind of girl. I like mine with Absolute Citron, Triple Sec & Pomegranate juice with a HUGE twist of lemon. I keep my alcohol to a limit because of the empty calories but sometimes a little cosmo is just hits the spot.

They have a ton of calories as most alcoholic beverages do but they are pretty, small & tasty.

Happy anniversary. Hope your hubby likes the the gift of the new you.

I can tell you that my favorite alcohol beverage is... beer ?

Although, I get very mixed responses when asking people, Dr's, etc... about carbonation. My nutritionist said it was okay in moderation, and that the carbonation shouldn't really be a problem after 6 months. Some people say you can never sip a diet coke or beer ever again.

If getting healthy means I have to sacrifice beer for the rest of my life, so be it, but I wouldn't mind the occasional microbrew every now and again...

I agree with the Lemon-drop Martini suggestion. I have them leave off the sugar around the rim.

When it comes to alcohol it depends on what mood my band is, to what I can drink. See my doc has never said drinking was bad so I drink on occasion when going out etc.

Since being banded I have become a big wine person. Maybe you can try to find a sweeter wine. I prefer a sweeter white wine which is nice with meals.

If you cant find one or dont want to try, here are a few suggestions.

White russian

Baileys and milk

Vodka and orange juice

Vodka and cranberry juice

grapefruit juice and vodka

Pina Colada

Bloody Mary

martinis

Whiskey sour

Amaretto Sour

Happy Anniversary :)

Thanks guys. I ended up ordering a Rum Runner. It was huge and it really tasted mostly of rum. I have an 8 month old so I haven't had any alcohol in oh 18 months or so.

Needless to say that one was enough. I was great until I stood up from the table then things started to move a little. LOL

We had a great night though.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
