9cc in Realize band with no restriction

Recommended Posts

I now have 9cc in an 11cc Realize band and have no restriction. I have to admit it is getting depressing. What happens when I get to 11ccs? I asked my surgeon if it was possible to be totally filled with no restriction and he said no. I have read otherwise online and am worried I will be one of the people who say this never worked for me.

When I say no restriction, I mean I can eat and drink like always. It is like I didn't have the surgery. I just realy don't know what to do about it :(

I can understand your worry, All I can say is I went for a month after a fill with no restriction. I had 6 cc. I went to the docs and told him I felt nothing and could eat as much as I wanted so he gave me 1cc add instead of .5cc. well I couldn't believe the difference. When I went back to solids, the first time I ate I ate to fast and for the first time I got sick. I had to now force myself to slow down and chew better. I guess what I am saying is I was thinking the same thing you were and then like magic, It was their. 1cc made the difference, I told myself their was no way 1cc could change anything and it did. I'm confident you'll get it.

I feel a lot like you, I supposedly have 8ccsin an 11cc band. When I went for my last fill on 12/12, the FNP said I had .5cc more than I was told I had on the previous visit with the MD. So, I either have 7.5 or 8ccs, at any rate, I have very little restriction. I hope it comes soon. Good luck!!!

I went for a fill today. Previously I had 8 CCs in a 11cc band. Today I got 1.5 cc. I had a different nurse today who gave me 1.4 where as my last two fills were 1 cc each. So now I am at 9.4. I am also a bit stressed about this.

Don't lose hope. You're approaching the point where tiny fills make a huge difference. As the band gets fuller, fractions of a cc can make a huge difference.

I didn't have restriction at 9 cc either. I've had several fills since that point. Each has been small, and each has made a HUGE difference. And I'm not even close to 11 cc.

If you hit 11 cc without restriction, I will eat my hat. BUT, know that there IS room above 11 cc, and that your doctor CAN instill more saline, if need be. The manufacturer has guidelines for the leeway they built in to the device. I am sure your doctor knows this---it's a shame he's not being more reassuring to you.

I don't want to scare you, but what happened to me was my port was cracked in 5 places and all of the saline was leaking out so I felt nothing. It ended up being the manufacturer's fault and they had to do another surgery on me to give me a new port. You may have them just check to verify that there is really 9 cc in there at all. Good luck!

I wanted to post a quick update. First, at some point there was either miscommunciation or I was confused. I have a 14cc Realize band. That makes it s totally different thing. Second, I am now at 10cc and I am VERY restricted. I am actually thinking of having .25cc removed at my next visit. The band is suck a roller coaster - one miute nothing the next too much. At least now I know it is working and will work for me. That is a huge relief!

I have a 14cc realize band and at 8.75cc I was overfilled according to my surgeon because I couldn't eat my Proteins and vegies without getting stuck or sliming...but yes, I could still eat the quantities I did prior to surgery of many other things.

When I finally understood 'restriction' meant cessation of hunger and not physically limiting the amount I could eat at a sitting, I found my sweet spot was 6cc. I can eat a reasonable meal and not be hungry for 4 hours.

I still don't quite understand all this fill business. I have nothing in my band yet (I'm going today for my fill) I'm still working on my weight loss, doing what I'm supposed to, losing weight, and I'm not hungry all the time. Are you guys hungry all the time? Or are you just looking for the full feeling? I don't quite understand. I know we have to control what goes it, it's gonna do it for you.

Heather,

Some people get enough pressure on the vagus nerves with just the band to shut off the the ghrelin. Some of us need fills. If you aren't hungry, then you're one of the lucky ones.

From reading posts though, I think some people are looking for the band to physically restrict the amount they can eat.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
