TT: Any suggestions to promote successful healing

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I'm a week away from my TT w/ Lipo and MR... Do you have any suggestions to promte successful healing? I will follow Dr's orders to the letter and have already given up smoking (I'm now 15 days smoke free) to eliminate smoking related complications, such as:

    • • Poor and/or delayed wound healing
    • • Increased risk of infection
    • • Longer bruising period
    • • Skin loss
    • • Hypertrophic or keloid scarring
    • • Increased risk of pulmonary problems
    • • Flap necrosis (as with "flap" procedures) or tissue breakdown

Do you have any insider tips?

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

Hi:

My band doctor recommended Vitamin C (I think it was 1,000 milligrams/day). My Tummy Tuck healed well. Another thing is to try to get extra rest.

Best wishes to you.

Sue

I did a lot of research before my mini tt and I read somewhere that dial soap is something you should use before and after the tuck. It helps prevent infections etc. I started using it 2 days before my tuck until few weeks after.

I did just that and could have had my stitches removed a mere 3-4 days after surgery because I healed so fast and never had an infection or anything. Out of all of my incisions from my surgeries ( 13 incisions total) my Tummy Tuck was the fastest one to heal.

Thanks Sue, I'll add additional Vitamin C and will definately work on getting more rest. Right now, I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Can't believe this is actually about to happen.

Thanks Bandit, I also read something about dial soap, I had completely forgotten - thanks for the reminder, I'll make certain I use it from this point until the day of surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
