I get up at 5am and don't get to bed most of the time until 10pm or later. I was told 3 small meals a day and no grazing, but I get hungry so I have a planned snack twice a day. Anyone who is farther along in your weight loss, do you do this or stick strictley to your 3 meals a day and how do you feel it has effected your weight loss?

Hi:

Just wanted to mention that getting enough sleep is so important when you're trying to lose weight. Not only does it keep you away from the fridge, but it also gives your body time to recover.

I had to eat something every four hours or my hunger got out of control and I would try to eat too fast - bad for band. Try having some yogurt, or something low calorie to snack on when you're hungry if it's outside of your meal time.

Good luck! I love my band.

I am terrible when it comes to grazing! When my apartment is set up where I don't have to walk through the kitchen I am fine, I can stay out of food that way but right now my apartment is a long rectangle so every time I want to go anywhere in my apartment I walk through the kitchen.

This path then promotes me to stop and see what there is to eat etc. I used to end up eating more then I should even if I wasn't hungry. It is still hard to kick that habit but what I do is keep only fruit in plain sight so I might grab that as I walk through or keep s.f pudding or Jello in the fridge at eye level.

That way if I am just looking in the fridge for no reason at all I will grab the pudding, Jello or even a little cheese to nibble on.

I am so close to goal and having a little trouble losing the rest of the weight so I am working hard to kick the grazing habit but I think as long as what you graze on is healthy, and high in Protein etc it should be ok.

Damn you kitchen Damn you!

So long as you aren't entering a calorie surplus I find it's better to spread your calories throughout the day rather than all at two or three sittings.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
