jenleigh526 1 Posted December 13, 2010 My dr gives your prescription at the last appt. before banding. However, my prescription was written for pills vs. liquid. When I went to pick up the prescription this afternoon (my surgery is tomorrow morning) I noticed the Percocet looked HUGE! I ended up asking the pharmacist to keep the med's and call my Dr's office in the morning to make sure I should be taking pills immediately post op for pain vs. liquid. Anyone have any experience with this? DId you have pills or liquids prescribed?

cwm812 11 Posted December 14, 2010 I was given pills for pain immediately post-op. I thought it was crazy, so I asked. Doc told me I'd have no problem with them and I didn't. I've always been able to take pills, even large ones. The only ones that give me problems are Vitamins. They don't get stuck, but they sort of upset my stomach. I stick to chewables for Vitamins, but I've never done liquid meds of any kind. Cindy
Bardy 6 Posted December 14, 2010 I really didn't need any pain meds post-op -- there was just a little discomfort and tenderness at the incision sites but nothing really requiring meds. For other pills at first I crushed them and mixed them into Water or juice until I felt comfortable swallowing them. My regular medications are really small so after a while it workd just to swallow them. I would definitely try to get liquid meds if you could. The most discomfort I had was in my throat from the breathing tube! It was so sore I could hardly swallow at all. I ended up using some codeine Syrup from a previous cold and it eased the pain in that area. Good luck, you'll do great.
