29 pounds from goal!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on May 14, 2009 at 262 pounds. Today I weigh 194 pounds and I'm 29 pounds from my goal! This was absolutely the best decision I ever made in my entire life. I feel like a whole new person! Not only am I feeling younger, my knees don't hurt and I'm playing tennis at least twice a week. I am loving my new life! I will graduate from RN school in 18 months. One of the reasons I had the surgery was because I didn't think I could stand on my feet for 12 hours on a hospital floor - I'm doing it now! Sometimes I do get frustrated when I can't eat something that I love, but it's so worth it, let me tell ya!

It’s been a year since I got my band and I’ve lost 85 pounds. I’ve had a total of 4 fills and I’m at about 6.5 cc with a 10 cc band. My last fill was mid-August and since then I really have had a great relationship with my band! I can pretty much eat anything, only in small amounts, and continue to lose. I was hoping that I was done with fills!

Then this past 3 weeks I’ve found that I can eat WAY more then I should! I’ve only got 25 pounds to go to meet my goal and I’m thinking that maybe it’s time for a little fill. Have you experienced the need for a fill now that you are so close to your goal weight? Is a fill the way to go or should I leave my band alone and start “dieting”? Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always been very careful about calories, but it’s just never felt like a diet and I’m wondering if that is the route I should take now. I’d love to hear about what you did………

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
