ThatDudesMom 13 Posted December 13, 2010 Well, I have been on here a week now, and I guess it is time to introduce myself. I have recently, and when I say recently I mean real, real recently decided to get band. I considered it two years ago, but took a Detour (high Protein, moderate fat, and low carb...pee on a stick several times a day diet). I did well (30 lbs.), gained it and more back, and it has taken me a bit to get back to the idea of a band. I just turned 40, and I just hit the 300 mark on the scale. Not acceptable! I'm a single mom of an amazing 9 year old boy. I plan to be active with him, and I plan to see him and his children grow up. I have a great support system, and also know this site will be of great help. i have the sleep study and pych. eval done. I have a consult with my surgeon on Tuesday...I plan to beg for a January 3 banning. From a previous conversation with him, it is a possibility. I of course have the only insurance in my state (Kansas BC/BS) that does not cover anything related to weight loss. That means I am self pay....horrible for the bank account, but great for the process. Thanks to everyone who I have already learned so much from! I'm glad to be a part of this!!! I am very excited for you. I also just turned 40 and am trying hard to hit that 300 mark. Just not an option. My doc tried to talk me into this a few years ago, but I wasn't ready. Well now I am. I am excited and very nervous. I have days I wonder if I can do it... But the next day i KNOW I can. This group seems to help with those tjmes for sure. Do you have a local support group you attend or can? Good luck I hope this can be done for you very quickly!!!

Welcome...just wanted to wish you luck and congrats on taking the steps to a new and healthier you. Keep your eye on the prize (being around for your family) as you go through this process. Follow your doc's rules and be strong. It's not a quick fix and can be a lot of work at times. Just take it all day by day, get out and move daily and you will be on the other side of things b/4 you know it. All the best.
