Hi Everybody....so I wanted to see if I can get some advise from you folks that have already gone through this process.

I have Kaiser Permanente Insurance and my PCP appointment is this Friday the 17th. I've never met her before, and I'm hoping that at my appointment she'll give me her "blessing" and referral to go through the Kaiser "Options" Program. I emailed her staff and let them all know in advance as to why I was going in the office in the first place. You know, cause I'd really like to have WLS. The PCP was kind enough to request a full blood panel to be done a week before my appointment with her, so she can review all my test results with me during my visit. Is there any wrong way to go into this appointment? I don't wanna look like some girl wanting a "quick fix" cause I am fully aware that this procedure is a tool and if I don't treat it as such than I won't have success with it. =) I've tried every diet out there but what if she doesn't believe me....what if she thinks I just need to "watch" what I eat??? I'm nervous that I've waited over a month for this appointment and it's up to her to decide if I'm a good candidate of not. My BMI is a 43.8 YIKES so I do fall into the morbidly obese catagory. Any advise would be appreciated.....Thanks everyone

Lena

Thanks for your response!! =) Well all went well with my PCP on Friday. She said that by my BMI alone I would be recommended for weight loss surgery. They gave me a phone number to call to get more information and I called their Choices program phone line and I have an appointment to go to an orientation at their Corona Medical Office. Once I'm there, the guy said they'll give me an application to fill out, I'm guessing to go through the 12 week class. I hope that it's minimally difficult. I'm willing to put in the time and effort that's not an issue, but I hope I don't have to jump through too many hoops. =)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
