The best things in my life now that I've lost weight....

Recommended Posts

Uh ok, I'll be the first to say it....After all, I have been married for 10 years. Renewed sex life. :D

Fitting into airplane seats.

Hugs from my daughter.

Being able to run more than 50 feet.

Rubbing it in my family docs face that I don't need her stupid medications that would probably make me feel worse anyway.

Feet that are an entire size smaller.

Finding old 'skinny clothes' in your closet that are actually to large now.

Fitting in to restaurant booths.

Burning old granny panties in the fireplace!

Shopping in regular stores, knowing that the clothes will fit.

Not worrying that they wouldn't have a wet suit large enough for me when I went to snorkle in Florida this sumer.

Ohhh, the list goes on and on and on....what are some of your favorite things about your new you.

And best of all, bending over to empty the dishwaher just to have your hubby come up behind you and say..."Wow!" and not out of sheer horror, for once. That was my personal cherry on top moment. :P

Not having the depressing thoughts about being fat going through my brain as I go to sleep at night and not having depressing thoughts about being fat as I swing my legs over the bed to get up in the morning. Now I just wake up and hit the floor on a dead run to start my day.

I can so relate to that constant tape of "I'm fat" playing in my head 24/7. Can't wait to be where you are :)

Burning old granny panties in the fireplace!

:D Ok, I have to admit-- I bought some new cute panties and I hated them! I love my big old over-the-belly granny panties! They are so comfortable. Plus you can tuck your shirt into them :P

I'm only sort of kidding about that last part.

Oh, oh, oh, here's one that sort of snuck up on me. Sitting comfortably with my legs crossed.

I was sitting on the couch one day and I didn't want to move. I was comfortable and happy there just helping my daughter with her homework. I wondered why I was so content but didn't get it until a few days later when I was, once again, sitting.... at the park watching my daughter play.

I never realized how uncomfortable I was just simply sitting. The weight made even something as simple as sitting oddly irritating.

So now when I sit down and cross my legs I think....Hey, small victory, but well worth recognition. :D

Having a small A/c company and going to repeat customers houses to do annual services and them meeting me at the door and looking past me and saying 'Where's the other half of you" Ahhhhhhh yes. Up on the roof and seeing my shadow from the sun and noticing that there is less of me.lol. Buying 36"waist pants in stead of 44" and they fit a little loose. Oh yes. Off all my meds. OK I better stop befor it gets too long. There are so many pluses it was well worth it. If you are just out of your surgery hang in there and be patient with your weight loss and don't get discouraged, everyone is different and you will find what works for you and what dosen't. I've been told all my life that a slow weight loss is better in the long run anyway.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
