We are going out tonight to Celebrate my daughter's acceptance at the college of her choice with a 4 year academic scholarship.....

Of course, her favorite place to go is Olive Garden.

I have been reviewing the nutrition information and haven't found much that is "healthy".

So I decided....since I am now banded---work the band! I am going to order a luncheon portion of my favorite (chicken scampi) and eat the chicken and veggies. I will let the band tell me when I am satisfied....and stop. I won't have bread or Pasta. I will have just a little salad.

But the main thing I will do is enjoy myself.

I can eat like a thin person. I know I can.

The olive garden here has apricot chicken breasts. It is very good and very low fat, high Protein. I would try and stay away from Pasta dishes.

Thank you for the heads up on the Apricot chicken dish. I will put that in my filing cabinet.

I just looked up the nutrition facts for Olive Garden out of sheer curiosity and it looks like if you get the Apricot chicken lunch portion theres only 280 calories which is very reasonable! If you can eat half of the Chicken scampi lunch portion, it would be about 370 calories it looks like. Some of the Soups also like relatively low cal (if you wanted to do Soup and salad or something).

Well, I survived going out to dinner.

I followed my plan.

I had a little bit of salad. NO bread.< /p>

I ordered a lunch portion of the chicken scampi. I ate only the chicken and the veggies. I didn't touch the Pasta.

I felt full but not overstuffed.

It was a good night!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
