Hello, & congrats on getting the band, i too was in a lot of pain :(. I made sure to get lots of rest, when i wasn't sleeping i would make sure that i was walking around as much as i could. Also sipping Water & eating ice chips to keep myself hydrated, the pain will go away, i promisse :) ....Take your pain meds, that really helped me alot!

Get up and start moving. The pain you have from gas is due to the volume they pumped into you during surgery. The only way to dissipate it is to move around. Walking helps dramatically. Try using Gas-X strips too - I found that helped me. (I was just banded on Monday.) Each day gets easier, but you need to be proactive in your recovery. Sip all the Water you can tolerate. You need to stay hydrated. And if you feel the urge to pass gas, do it. You need to get it out of your system somehow. Coughing up the phlegm that accumulated in your lungs during surgery is vital. Get up and move. Really.

I'm five days Post-Op, and I'm feeling remarkably good. Much better than I expected to. Good Luck!

Dave

Take the pain meds! Seriously, that's why they give them to you. If what they gave you isn't working, call the Dr.'s office ASAP and get something stronger.

Move, move, move! I was banded on 11/22 and did not suffer from any gas pain. I took Gas-X strips faithfully for the first few days. Also, every 15 minutes I would get up and walk for 5 minutes. Did I need the Gas-X strips? No. Even so, I took them and think that it helped prevent the gas build up. Feel better soon!

just rest for now and take your pain meds. at least you are not nauseous which I was and I had to stay in the hosital an extra day. A week or so after surgery, you will feel so normal almost like you never HAD surgery. Take this time to heal......and you WILL feel good in no time!

I just got banded yesterday.. i was so excited until the numbness and anesthia were off.

The pain is as if i were hit by a bus. They give some serious pain medication at hospital which worked up to3-4hours then pain came back double... I was then released went home (like you about 10hrs later) only to find the pain increasing. i took the prsecribe hydrocodone but really didnt help.

Today my whole body from neck, shoulders, arms, of course belly and some weakness in legs.

I feel like a gutted fish.

And havent slept been pacing all night.

Walking does help.....

I wish you much weight loss.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
