4 weeks after am I eating too much?

Recommended Posts

Ok I will start with a little background since my surgery. I was banded on November 9. Everything went extremely well. I had no real pain and was able to drink as much liquid as I wanted from the start. They actually had to tell me to not drink so much in post op. I was on 1 week liquids and then 2 weeks soft foods. I am able to handle 1 ½ to 1 3/4 cups of food no problem and that really does seem to satisfy me for at least 3-4 hours. I am also drinking about 96 oz of Water each day. Now is that too much food and Water to be consuming 4 weeks post op even though it does not seem to be hurting anything? Any comments or concerns would be greatly appreciated. I will be getting my first fill on Dec 22 so I am sure that will reduce my portion sizes.

Thanks

Sounds like your doing fine. I was banded on Nov.10 and had restriction from surgery until last weekend. I get my first fill on Monday and I'm looking forward to having restriction again.

I think you are doing great. Just make sure you are measuring your portion sizes, because you dont have any restriction. Make sure you are getting in your protien and follow YOUR docs instructions. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
