anyone seeing Dr. Cynthia Long in Maryland?

I started seeing her in Silver Spring, but after the new year, she'll be in Baltimore at Sinai Hospital? I'm torn on the idea about her going to bmore, but I don't want to change doctors now that I'm towards the end of the process.

Is anyone else switching doctors now that she is moving? Or are you just sticking it out and going to bmore?

I am in the same boat as you. I still am not sure of what to do.I went to the Vitamin and preop class at Sinai. I did not get a good feeling about the hospital nutritionist. She had very different advise than what we were told. I think she has more experiance with bypass patients than lapband. And by the way Dr. Cynthia Long will not be opening at Sinai until February . I do have a consult with a doctor at sibley. His name is Dr. Brian long. (coincidence same last name). I will make a decision between the two of them.

aah ok. yea she mentioned she won't be starting surgery there til february. i'm hoping for a march/april surgery date. i just have one last appt left and i'll be complete. gives me time to lose more weight actually. i just don't wanna go through the hassle of another doctor here, although if it does take too long, i may switch to a doctor at shady grove.

thanks for your help

I had everything done and was ready to send the package to the insurance. I was hoping for an end of December or beginning of January surgery date. I would have preferred Shady Grove but there are only 2 other bariatric surgeons there. One has an office in Fredrick and wants an upfront fee of I think it was $500 and wanted me to start over with his nutritionist. The other does not take any insurance. He takes self pay only or those that can go out of network and do the paperwork themselves to get partially reimbursed. I have Aetna and cannot go out of network. Therefore it is not possible for me to get it done at Shady Grove. However the surgeon at Sibley said to bring in a copy of all my records at my consult January 4. They said if I have everything they will not charge an upfront fee or have me start over again. After the consult I will make a decision of which surgeon I prefer.

As much as I hate Baltimore I drive there to see her. Since she did my operation I don't want anyone else messing with it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
