19 pounds in 5 days!!!

Recommended Posts

So I go to weigh myself today even though my Dr. told me not to. I weigh-in at 331. I do a double take get off the scale change the batteries re-calibrate it and get back on. 331. You don't understand I weighed-in at 350 at the hospital right before the surgery 5 days ago!!!!! That means I have lost 19 lbs. in 5 days! I can't believe it. I know I feel well and I am very hydrated as I drink lots of liquids. I don't exercise not yet anyways all the exercise I do is walk around the house. I am shocked. Is this normal? Has anybody else gotten these kind of results? I go in to see my Dr. tomorrow and I hope to weigh 330. I take multi-vitamins and have kept up with my post-op diet. I am so shocked right now. My wife even mentioned that my stomach has gone down as I carry all my excess weight around that region. Should I be concerned???? Or just reap in the benefits of the Lap-Band?

Congratulations! It is quite fast, but weight tends to drop quickly at first and slows down with time. I wouldn't be concerned as long as you're consuming the required Protein and Vitamins.

Best Wishes

You probably lost a lot of Fluid even if you are properly hydrated. It would be impossible to lose 19 pounds of fat in 5 days! That is 66,500 calories burned. I lost 10 in the first 7 days, but I also knew that it was mostly Water. I then went 5 weeks and only lost 3 1/2 pounds. Now I am losing a bunch rapidly and it is fat because my pants are falling off my butt. You will lose in waves so don't get frustrated if you don't see consistant weight loss. It will happen! Keep up the good work.

It was most likely all Water weight.

Congrats!!

It's a great start and morale booster but don't expect to see numbers like that ever again.

I lost 4 pounds yesterday but I know it was just the IV fluids leaving my body following surgery on Friday.

Water weight or not, it's weight! I am down 40 lbs since Sept. Sure, a lot of it is water weight, but HELLO ... I'm noticeably smaller! And I assure you, it's not all water weight that you lost and if it stays gone, then who cares what kind of weight it is? Congrats on the fast drop.

I was banded 11-8-10 and the first 6 days i lost 17lbs. I weight 355 at the hospital. I guess it is Water. Today is my first month and I have a total 20lbs lost. Im getting my fill on dec 23. Hope I can get restriction coz right now im always hungry and can eat anything if i want to. SCARY!

By the way, don't think that my previous post was meant to be negative in any way! I think that it's great you are down 19 pounds. Just know that we've all had our rapid, but brief weight loss and then it tapers into real fat loss and not just Water. If you are already noticing your stomach smaller by all means you should celebrate! Like I said, I lost 10 pounds in the forst 7 days and then it was really slow going for awhile. Now that I had my 3rd fill(and 1 emergency Saturday morning unfill) I am droping pounds like mad. Keep up the good work.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
