Energy, where do I get some?

Recommended Posts

I have NO, I repeat NO, energy. I was banded on October 12th. I've had no energy since surgery. Some of it i know is related to depression and i am taking meds. But physically I feel like total crap. I can sleep seriously 20 hours a day no problem. I try not to sleep more than 8 hours a day, but if i lie down to take a nap I can sleep for four hours straight. I will be honest I struggle with taking the Vitamins. I dont have restriction at all so I know Its not from lack of calories. I get pretty close to the protien goal everyday sometimes over. I try to exercise and walk, but I am so tired I have to force myself to make it even 20 minutes. Has anyone else had these issues? What helped? Any suggestions?

It is probably a Vitamin deficiency as you state you have difficulty with vits.

I suggest a visit to your PCP to get basic bloodwork done, but to particularly check your B-12 and Vitamin D levels. If you're young enough that you're still menstruating, you might also be low in Iron. It would be easy to just say to add those vitamins/minerals, but since you're on other medication, it would probably be wise to let a physician help you figure out what's wrong.

You could try your bariatric surgeon too, some are good at monitoring post band Vitamins and some are not. Mine sends me to my PCP. ::shrug::

B-12 comes in pleasant raspberry sublingual (under the tongue) tablets. I put one under my tongue every day while I fix my coffee, then I get my other Vitamins ready and take them with my coffee. I don't let myself have Breakfast until vitamins are down. It really helps to establish a routine.

Best of luck to you.

I also understand depression. Sometimes it's just getting out the door that helps. And have you looked at the site Bodyblues? http://thebodyblues.com/ Of course they're gonna try to push their products, but some interesting info at the site. Hang in there.

Take the vitamins!!!

I also supplement with a liquid B Complex and Vitamin D (I found Vitamin D in the yummy sugar free calcium chews from costco. I get to eat 'em 3 times a day and they are like candy!) . Low levels of the B's and of vitamin D will cause depression and lack of energy.

I am coming off Keppra which has fatigue as a side affect. I've noticed during this weaning stage that I am tire easily as well. I force myself to the gym every day I certainly don't feel like going some days. Yes, I have been doing blood labs and everything is fine. My weightloss even with a fill has stalled again; so I don't know if the change in medication is messing up my body.

I am super impressed that with a lack of energy, adjusting your meds, and dealing with depression, you are still getting your butt to the gym. Kuddos!

Hang in there. Your body is going through a lot getting used to the band, recovering from surgery, and coming off meds. The weight will come off. Cut yourself some slack. I personally think you are impressive and a great motivation for me to not make excuses for myself and follow your example when I'm not feeling up to it.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
