Got the date!

Recommended Posts

So I have the date for my surgery!! I have to do the liquid diet first for two weeks, which starts on the ninth of this month! Surgery is scheduled for the 27th at 11:30. I am so so excited, but also very nervous! I've waited for more than 6 months for this to happen! (I had to do a 6 month supervised diet for the insurance company, it was a pain, but they are paining for 80% of it, and that's a pretty good chunk) Well I hope to talk to some of you soon, I'm new to this site, so if anyone wants to talk or whatever, I'm here! biggrin.gif

I'm so excited for you Kelsey. I have been going to classes since November. My expected surgery date is February 2011. I'm not sure yet. I wish you the best. Also, I new to this site. I thought I could use all the support that I can get right now and post operative. Good luck.

Hello Kelsey and welcome to LBT. I'm pretty new too but I am also scheduled (tentatively) for the 27th. I'm still waiting on approval but my surgery center says I should be approved in plenty of time. I'm nervous and excited as well. It's a big step

Kelsey I just got my date today and it is the 28th!! I am just like you! Excited and a little nervous. I also just completed 6 months of Dr. supervised diet and therapist for my ins. company. They are paying 100% so as you say, it is worth it! I am hoping to learn a lot on this site. A friend who just had the band a few weeks ago told me this was a great site.

Good luck to you. We should monitor each others progress. biggrin.gif

Thank you for all the positivity and support! biggrin.gif

And to Crossroads, I agree we should monitor each others progress and help each other since we are right there on the same boat!!

I too had to do the psyc evaluation, it didn't take as long as I thought it would though, which was good.

Hi, Kelsey! It looks like you and I will have the same surgery date.- the 27th. My insurance just approved me yesterday, so I am still pretty over-the-moon happy. I'm sure I'll get nervous/scared like most people, but it hasn't hit me yet. I tried to get banded 2 years ago but was denied by Tricare (not enough comorbid conditions). It was a big letdown, and reattempting it this time was difficult- I didn't want to get my hopes up. Anyway, all is well. Only 18 days until our new journey!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
