Hello Everyone,

Whomever opens this link and has any words of encouragement I would greatly appreciate all you could say. I was bande 11/22/10, 12 days ago. It took me a long time to recover because I do not respond well to anethisia. Once I did, about 4-5 days ago I started not doing so well with the post-op diet. As always I start off great. I have a protien shake for Breakfast and greek yogurt or Soup for lunch. But there has been about 4 days where I ate something a bit more then a "mushy". I did'nt understand why the doc said not to eat regular food. I felt NO restirction and food past through me with no problems. Then I read an article saying that harder foods make you not be able to heal properly inside and cause your band not to solidify with the stiches correctly and stuff and makes it more likely to slip in the future. DId I screw myself up already only 12 dayas out. I am devistated about telling the doctor. I see him tomorrow, day 13. I have lost about 4 pounds since surgery but the few meals I ate in the evening have me petrified. How do I know if I caused long term damage to my band?

For those who have had problems, and had band surgerically adjusted or port adjusted, did yo9u have to pay surgery fees all over again?

Please, any words of wisdom would help!!!!!

Sandi

Hi Sandi!!

No worries!! I was banded on 11/23, and my Dr. Moved me over to Mushies as of last Friday at my first post op visit. I think what you are seeing is a classic case of each doctor being a little bit different! I wouldn't worry about it. Just get back on the routine your Dr. has you on and you'll be fine!!

Best of Luck!

Kevin

I wouldn't stress over this too much. Like you, I was banded on 11/22. I have been on solids since Friday and was on mushies the Friday following my surgery. As kbuttrey stated, it is another example of how all doctor's are different. You should be fine!

Tell your doctor when you see him. Yes, every doctor is different but they have reasons for issuing the instructions that they do.

Some are more conservative and wish to allow for longing healing time to ensure that no damage is done, for whatever reason. So be straight with him when you see him, so that he can make a decision as to how best to proceed.

It may end up being nothing. But the best way to ensure you get a good result long term is to be honest with your medical team, so they can make the most informed decisions on how to continue to treat you.

Being honest with your Dr. is a must. With that said, as long as you didn't feel stuck, feel the food trying to get past your band, I doubt you have caused any damage. Some people can't eat without it ticing or it making them throw up until further down the road.

You will see your Doc tomorrow. Don't lose sleep over it tonight.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
