MsButterKup23 1 Posted December 27, 2005 I know that there is a lot of talk about erosions lately and most (if not all) were those who had no choice but Mexico. Anyone have problems with erosion and were banded in the US. I am just curious.
Alexandra 55 Posted December 27, 2005 My surgeon's office, last I heard, has had two cases of erosion out of several hundred bands placed. I will ask about this again next week but the incidence really does seem to be quite low.
gordonfamily3 0 Posted December 27, 2005 I actually asked my Dr. a couple of weeks ago because I have read so much about it. I can't tell you the # of bands he has done but he hasn't had any. I go back next week I will see if I can get a # from them.

Wheetsin 714 Posted December 27, 2005 I'm not banded yet but this came up during our info night. There are two surgeons, and they have had no erosions. At the time they'd done around 600 bands.
leatha_g 4 Posted December 28, 2005 Hmm.... can we say they have had NO erosions or can we say they have not detected any at this point? All of the folks who've recently lost their bands or are about to, had perfectly fine barium swallows only to have the EGD days later and find a sort of 'silent' erosion. Currently, it's not a common practice to have EGD's on a regular basis. Rule of thumb seems to be ' if the barium swallow looks good, all is well'. I wonder... Wheetsin 714 Posted December 28, 2005 I will restate to: "...and the numbers they cite indicate no erosions."
