I am glad to see this last month has been hard on others too! I guess we are just at that stage with our band. I had a follow up yesterday and did not get a fill. Do not know whether to be happy or sad. I only lost 6lbs in 6 weeks which is hard when I was losing 10-14 a month before. Oh well I now have to work on working my bad. I really should not complain because I have been cheating a lot over the last month. I am trying to find the strength to kick start my butt right back to being very strict and not going a stray. I am 3lbs from 60 total pounds lost and I really want to get there.

Well here goes my first strict day of calorie counting and measuring here on out!

I am with you on needing to work it more. since my 2 deflates I feel as though I barely have a band. We can do this!!

Yeah! So happy for you!!

I think you are jumping the gun, LOL. Let your body adjust to the 10# drop. To answer your exercise post, I go to the gym 3X aweek for a 30 minute weight/cardio circuit. I also like to walk a few of the other days per week.

What # of calories are you eating daily? How is your band at this point, great or too loose? TOM gain, salty foods Fluid retention, Constipation? Changing your exercise sounds like a great idea. I have been succesful breaking a plateau in the past by exercising 2X aday, not long workouts just 2 of them.

Hi CiCi, I am an RN, too. What kind of unit do you work? Are you one of the night shift workers who don't have much appetite or the type who eats all night to stay awake? I was both types during my years of night shift, LOL. How is your band working at this time? Are you drinking ample Water?

Yes I am a night worker..does it show?I work in the ER.

LOL I find myself munching off and on because everyone else is..when I first went back to work after surgery I was SO adament about just drinking my water..then I would skip a day meal to eat at night, and then feel starved. I have to find my happy medium..calorie wise I fluctuate from 500 on a craving salads kind of day to 1200 on those ..well that looks yummy day.. I have to find my happy medium..and I'm trying. The only exercise I got in the last 3 days with having company all weekend was some walking..not enough I'm sure..and now I work in a bit, so I will try and walk at work tonight, but you and I both know that it is all dependent on patient volume and it doesn't always cooperate!!

Sadly I am probably drinking less water than I should be, esp in the last 3 days, but I have my water bottle ready for tnite..I'm bound and determined!! My band is doing ok, I feel full, I stop eating..but I still don't know that i'm at my 'sweet' spot.

I am in a bit of a slump myself, LOL. I had 2cc removed from my band last week and have only very minimal band assistance right now, ie I have to work harder, LOL. I needed my stomach to heal after I was so sick. It seems I was getting stuck so much due to my extreme seasonal allergies causing post nasal drip which kinda plugged up my pouch. The getting stuck/vomiting caused my stomach to swell and since it can't swell out it swelled in and made everything worse. I feel wonderful since the deflate but have a fear of gaining weight. :( My next fill is June 3rd, hopefully I can maintain until then.

I eat between 1,000-1,100 calories a day...I have found that I don't lose if I go either above or below that range. My band is in a good place...I am rarely hungry and can go 4-5 hours between meals and it isn't TOM. I am starting to think that after losing 75 lbs since I started my preop diet on Nov 18th, my body just needs some time to adjust to losing so much so fast. I am still hanging around at the same weight (up and down the same pound going on 3 weeks now) but I am just going to hang in there and see it through.

The only thing I see that could use some improvement is my exercise...I hate to do it and basically have to force myself. My husband and I went out and bought bikes for the family this weekend and we rode on Saturday and Sunday - I wasn't able to squeeze in a workout yesterday due to a hectic schedule but I plan on doing it again today. I am impatient by nature so I am trying to not get too crazy about this...I am definately in it for the long run so I'm just gonna keep trying to shake things up and see what happens.

One thing I did notice looking back at my food diaries is that my Protein level is lower than it was at the beginning...my NUT wants me eating between 80-120 g per day (I know it is a lot higher than most people are told to eat) and at the start I was regularly in the 100-110 g range - lately I have been in the 80-90 g range so I am wondering if that has anything to do with it...any thoughts?

I just busted out of my plateau after my period it seemed to even out, I know part of it was my doing, but yea sometimes it seems no matter how good you are it doesn't come off! Maybe just try little tweeks? More exercise, less or more food? Doesn't have to be drastic.

I wouldn't think the Protein would have anything to do with it?

I was banded 12/9/10 and I'm having similar issues. I have been back and forth with the same 2-3lbs for 3 weeks. I decided to take a closer inventory of my behavior today. I started a journal and I'm going to track my carbs, calories and Protein. I know I'm not getting the recommended protein. Exercise is not a problem for me. I workout 4 days a week doing a variety of stuff: Zumba, kickboxing, weight training and step. I'm losing inches because my clothes are getting way to big, but the scale is NOT moving! I'm currently in a size 16 (no W) and I used to wear a 22w. I'm determined not to give up! I'm going back for a fill this week, since surgery I have not had any restriction at all. Everything I have done up to this point has been willpower. I have 5cc's in a 10cc band. I'm hoping my next fill will get me back to where I need to be. Good luck December Bandsters!

I got rid of my my little gain by having a low calorie day with shakes for Breakfast and lunch and a normal dinner. But I still am only down 0.4 lb from my previous low. I'm thinking of possibly having another low calorie day this week. Hopefully this is just a little plateau I have to break through.

Now that I am looking back on it.... the last 5 months have flown by. I am so glad to have had the 85 loss I have had but its really comforting to see others with the same struggles I have been experiencing lately with 2-3 week plateaus. I seem to have moved off the latest one but my loss is now averaging about 2 lbs per week. And while I know thats a "nice healthy pace" I cant help but wish it was 4-5lbs. B)

I really need to start exercising which I havent been very diligent about. Honestly I had (and still have) so much weight to lose I havent felt like doing it until recently so now I am starting to walk. Its a SMALL step but hopefully it will be beneficial and I'll see 85 more lbs come off in the next 5-6 months. Thats a loftly goal but I can sure give it my best effort!

Kudo to you my fellow Decemeber bandsters! This will work for us!

It may be horrible of me, but I feel jealous of some of you. Floridays, you've lost 85lb, and you dont exercise? I exercise 5 days a week usually and I'm barely at a 40lb loss including my one week pre op diet. I'm on my phone so not sure if you have more to lose than me. But I workout like crazy and am stuck right now. I'm totally jealous.

Don't be jealous..........Everyone is different! I think I do have about 50 more to lose than you ... so no doubt it would come off more quickly. Also I am 5"9 so it may be more spread out on me than you.... I am a pear shape. Granted 85 lbs ago I was still a pear...just a bigger one! But I have heavy legs as opposed to a thick belly if that makes sense.

I'm happy for those who've been able to loose alot of weight fast but I'm also jealous too. I've been working out daily, walking, jogging, workout videos, Wii I've also stopped eatting red meat. I eat more chicken, lean turkey meat and fish. I do get my daily Protein like we're suppose to. I'm just at a stall but I'm not giving up.....no way!:P

Once again congrats to all!

Like FLORIDAYS said, those of us who have lost a lot of weight also had more to lose. Yes, I have lost 75 lbs but I still have 96 to lose in order to have a normal BMI...if you look at what we have all lost as a percentage of the total amount we want to lose, we are all in the same ballpark :D

Great weigh in today, loaded with several NSVs...I finally broke through my mini plateau by losing 4.6 lbs this week (in the end, it just took patience and increasing my exercise a bit). For the first time in over 21 years, I weigh less than my husband  and just to put a big old cherry on top, I am now no longer morbidly obese (my BMI is now 39.8).

 I'M SO HAPPY!!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
