I had my lap band surgery on Nov. 4th. and I'm not scheduled for my first fill until Dec. 22nd. Like someone else posted here, I'm terrified because with the holidays there is so much food around, and I still want to eat! I'm afraid I started eating solid foods too early ... after the first week and a half, I started eating soft noodles and other soft, mushy foods. By Thanksgiving, I was pretty much eating everything (in small quantities). I experienced a couple of scary incidents in which food didn't want to go down, and I regurgitated after one meal. Since then, however, I have not experienced this, and I'm afraid I may have caused the band to slip or something. Am I being paranoid?

You're doing fine.

Just eat small portions and chew your food well.

We all get stuck once in a while. From what I understand slippage happens from repeatedly eating to the point of throwing up.

You say you're afraid you started eating solids too early. Are you following the guidelines your doctor gave you? It's important to do that to let your band seat in a good position.

Give your doctor's office a call and talk your eating & food choices over with one of the nurses.

Don't panic though, the previous responder is correct, it's highly unlikely you've caused damage with only one pb (productive burping) session.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
