swallowing pills

Recommended Posts

Do you know if they tell you not to swallow pills because it may get stuck or that it won't dissolve as quickly. I have some antibiotics I need to take but crushing them with certain foods is gross. I took one this morning and broke it in 6 pieces small enough to swallow. Of course it was still gross as soon as it hit my tongue but not as bad as crushed. Can you tell me if this is ok or do I have to crush them so I don't get sick.

Remember to check with your pharmacists. Not all medications can be crushed or broken.

Hey Chavez,

I take 6 pills in the morning... two of them are tiny so no problems and I am able to get down two other no problems. I cut the other two in half and take them in halves. My surgeon said pills no bigger than an m and m go down ok, and that I could cut the others in half to take. I hear you about the crushing ugh... but I agree to also check with your pharmacist. Good luck!

Get a cheap pill cutter. I had to cut my blood pressure meeds in half dose wise so I wasn't going to throw out 3 months of meds that I had just picked up so I bought the cutter and extended my 3 month supply to 6 and they are smaller too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
