MustangKitten 0 Posted December 7, 2010 I have to agree that the walking made my gas pains go away real quick. I am exactly one week post-op and I don;t even feel like I have a band sometimes. I still feel like my mind is playing tricks on me and trying to sabatoge me. I go for my post op appt on Thursday so I am hoping that I see the scale and that gives me more motivation to keep going. Jenlo 3 Posted December 7, 2010 It is too soon for me since I was banded on 11/29. My surgeon adds Fluid to the band during surgery. I am at the stage where I am wondering if I did the right thing. I am tired of liquids. Tired of the gas. Tired of head hunger but not tired of seeing the scale move! I am just waiting for this part to get easier.
ape087 1 Posted December 7, 2010 I got banded on 11/10 and went in for my first fill today. Still not sure what size my band is. The only person I get to talk to at my dr's office is the nutritionalist, and all she says is "it doesnt matter, what matters is that you're following your diet". Either way I got 5cc's today, but Im on liquids so not sure onthe restriction yet. They did say that there happened to be a lot of "air in the system" so they had a bit of trouble filling me, but got it all out. I did have that shoulder pain everyone is talking about after my fill though. Guess thats got something to do with the air in the system. I didnt feel it after surgery, but I got it now, and props to you who delt with it already. You guys are troopers!
cbearanne 0 Posted December 7, 2010 I was banded on the 30th, and had an uneventful recovery. I lost 26 pounds before surgery and have lost 9 since surgery. After the first 3 days of no hunger I was ravenous! I was pretty miserable with it until yesterday when I added Protein Shakes back in. Now I feel comfortable again and I feel that I can continue on my doctors plan. The pain of surgery was tolerable and short lived. I guess the most annoying part in the first 3-4 days was the explosive gas and loose stool I was having despite all the anti-gas chewables I was taking. Now that has resolved so I really have no issues. I might get a little tired around 6-7 pm but I just try to wrap up whatever I'm doing and join my husband for some tv time or reading. Every day that passes with no new issues or complications I feel happier and happier. I know surgery itself carries a huge risk of post-op infections, etc. I'm so glad all has gone well so far. I'm seeing my surgeon today for my post op visit so I'm interested to know what he thinks of my progress. Take care everyone.
G Rose 0 Posted December 8, 2010 I'm struggling. The stress of trying to diet without any restriction (first fill next week) and the holidays is really kicking my butt. I'm just so strung out. and HUNGRY.

Xkitana 0 Posted December 9, 2010 I just got banded on 11/29, I am going through the stage right now where I wonder if this will work for me. I know it will work if I put the work into it like the exercise part but I am so afraid of falling into all my bad habits. I felt myself get that way this past weekend. The stress comes and all I want to do is grab a bowl of icecream or some chips. I have always been guilty of mindless eating and I caught myself doing it this weekend when I was fixing the kids plates. Luckily I caught myself before I ate more than a bite or two but I need to stop. I have never been one too keen on exercise which is one reason why I am in the position that I am but I keep wondering to myself, will I ever be gung-ho about exercise the way some of these veteran bandsters on here are? I don't have a scale at home yet so I don't know if I have lost any weight this week. I don't think I have since I don't feel like I have. I go for my post-op appointment next Thursday and my first fill is scheduled after Christmas. Sorry to be a downer today. I used to feel the same way about working out until I decided to go outside of the box and look for other types of work outs that not only keep me in shape but make me feel amazing....one of the things I've been doing for the past 4 1/2 years is pole dancing. It's an amazing exercise and the plus is i feel sexier and happier. It doesn't even feell ike I'm exercising since I'm having so much fun doing it. Another form of "exercise" I've been doing is taking dance lessons; ballroom, hip-hop, ballet...whatever the style. I say don't beat yourself too much yet...and hooray for catching yourself when you saw yourself going off teh deep end after a bit or two! You've only begun on this journey. For myself, being a NYer and living a fast paced lifstyle, I expect everything to have happened yesterday lol, the same with my weigh loss. I was banded on 11/21 and so far I've only lost 12 lbs. and now that I've slowly introduced more mushy/solid foods, I am teetering off, but that's ok since I haven't had a fill yet and once I do I know I'll feel more control. If you're interested in any of the workouts I've mentioned let me know! :-)
