I am paying $16,000. That is the going rate in Ontario, Canada, although the poll isn't going to be that accurate, since $16,000 Canadian and $16,000 American are two very different numbers! In Canada, the $16,000 covers everything, including a lifetime of fills and follow-up care. As for tests, x-rays etc., all of that is free in Canada, so the $16,000 is the only cost.

In Budapest, Hungary. Doctor has done over 1,000 lap bands personally over the past decade.

Two nights hospital stay with excellent care.

Fills in the US are paid for my medical insurance.

Everyone who has insurance to pay for their band is so lucky.

I paid 10,000.00 which I felt was close enough to the Mexico price that I wouldn't save much. I would have to pay for airfare and fills, because I couldn't see myself going back to Mexico for fills.

I am very happy with my dr. He has been really good to me trying to help me find the perfect restriction.

Was going to go self pay but then my old insurance covers Lab Band. I am having to COBRA the old because my new insurance does not cover any bariatric surgery. I am having to pay the surgeon up-front and then insurance pays me back (minus my co-insurance)

Insurance has paid everything related to my lapband journey at 100%. Dr. Richard's office called me on 11/06 to tell me that insurance has confirmed 100% on the surgery. I had foot surgery earlier this year and met my deductible of $300 and my out of pocket of $2500. I work for Mohawk Industries which is self-insured.

Pre-op on 11/28

Surgery on 12/4

Hi All-

I was a self pay $17,000 out of pocket. I was sicouraged by the price but i am still glad i did it. I have a friend going therough insurance and they'll only pay half. Thing is, half of insurance price is 13,500. Insurance is being billed $37,000. Granted, an extra $3,500 in my pocket would be nice, but not having to appeal 3 times to get my surgery covered was even better. Start to finish was only about 6 months as compared to about 2.5 for my friend right now.

Bye :clap2:

Mine was $17,000 and everything is covered preop, including Medifast for 3 weeks, at the hospital and post op. Fills for life, any resurgery for 2 years and all doctor visits.

As much as I hate the cost, it is the very best thing I have ever done for myself.

I was a self pay as my insurance stated that I needed 5 consecutive years of treatment for obesity before I qualified, or sever co-morbidities. Since I didn't want to wait 5 years (which would probably lead to co-morbidities) I decided to just pay the 17000$. That covered everything including 2 years of follow ups and fills.

My wife and I paid only 125.00 each on the ded. The rest was covered by insurance. I will say there was heavy discounts on the insurnace.

I am paying $15,700 for the surgery. I do not yet know if Insurance will pay for the pre-op tests that I'm going to tomorrow. Of course, my Insurance (UHC) has a specific "No Weight Loss Surgery" clause.

Whatever it costs, I've got to do it! I've taken a 15,000 loan out from my credit union & will cover anything else out of my normal savings.

You know, many people pay more for a car! I'm paying to get more life in my years & more years in my life!

Jenna, nice to see this thread is still going, but I need to update my numbers. I'm a self-pay:

Band/travel to Mexico; 1st port removal/travel to Mexico; Urgent Care; primary physician; Vegas belly specialist; port replacement/travel to Mexico; wound cleaning ceremony; port removal/travel to Ventura; Band removal/travel; pharmacies, specialists, therapists, interest on the loans, lost work, Lortab, Vicodin, White Zinfandel...

SELF PAY GRAND TOTAL? About $85,000.

Lucky for me, it only took 2 short YEARS of appeals for insurance to kick in $32,000. Gotta love those affordable Mexican surgeons!

Which surgeon did you go to? Why didn't you just use your old ID vs. coming up with a new one?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
