So I'm just thinking that it's me but does anyone else hiccup after they eat. It started after getting my band and it's really annoying plus a little embarrassing. Let me know if it happens to you!

I get hiccups after almost every meal. They usually start about 5 minutes after I stop eating. I know that it would be trouble to eat any more. If they are particularly violent, I know I ate too much.

When I start to hiccup, it's a reminder that I need to start paying attention. If I continue eating, it can get pretty messy! I've heard it called a "soft stop" reminder on one of the other lap band sites and I think thats a great way to see it. You aren't in a "stuck" situation, but you could be headed for trouble if you don't slow down or even stop eating. Just my opinion...

I can't use my hiccups as a soft stop because they are delayed and only start after I am done eating. I guess I could wait 5 minutes between bites, but that is kind of hard. I'm continueally looking for other soft stops to pay attention to though.

I get hiccups after the fact too. Little bit annoying, but I guess a good reminder.

I hiccup 3 times after eating. I also take this as a sign to stop. It's odd though, because it is only 3x's. I've been doing this for the last 3 months since I've gotten good restriction.

I am on week 3 of being banded and I have noticed that almost immediately after my meal, I do one hiccup/burp combo. It doesn't happen every time, but happens if I have eaten too fast I think. I have wondered what it means as well. I'm glad to hear that it's common.

I get them when I eat to fast. I've also learned that I can't talk while eating, seems I take in too much air and have both hiccups and burbing episodes.

Yup...the hiccups always come when I have eaten too much or too fast. Slow down and eat less, and I bet they will go away.wink.gif

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
