This post might be a little TMI for some, but I'm on the pre-op diet and I am drinking a ton of crystal light. About a gallon a day, because I can't get myself to drink that much Water in a day. I feel like i'm forcing myself to throw up. Since I am only on liquid (liquid in, liquid out) the crystal light is turning my poop the color of the drink. I found this amusing and was wondering if anyone else was having an issue with this? I love crystal light but I'm afraid that it dieing my excriments might mean it's a little excess. Do you think I could have any issues because of the excess die?

Well, I'm no expert but it seems to me that the dye is the part that your body can't use so it has to pass it through...seems kind of normal but....maybe you can try to switch it up with some no sugar added juice or something like that if you are worried about it. The red die is probably the worst for seeing it on the other end. Maybe try drinking a glass of Water between the crystal light, or herbal tea? It's hard to say. Good luck with the liquids and banding soon to follow. :)

purple drinks make it green! Grape kool aid always did that to me... and fruit loops did it too. We used to make a rainbow cake as a kid (basically white cake mix divided with lots of food coloring and then dropped in the pan for a tye dyed looking cake...) and it would make poo either red or green. No biggie... just know that a lot of food coloring can do that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
