Met a guy three weeks before my surgery...Crap!

I see you did tell him...but my .02...I would not have. I really don't understand why some feel the need to tell their 'dates' that they've had, or are having, weight loss surgery. If you were having (or had) some type of gynecological procedure, would you feel the need to tell them? It's none of their business.

It'd be kind of hard to explain why I wouldn't be able to see him for 2 weeks or so. So that's why I chose to, Elfie. Plus, I actually like the guy, having a secret banded life just isn't for everyone, I suppose.

I would've just told him that I was going into the hospital for a minor procedure...no details. If at some point, it became serious...that's soon enough to tell him.

I think perhaps he freaked because it was 'too much, soon'. :)

From what he said, it was more, he's heard bad things about WLS, but he was thinking I was getting gastric bypass. Once I told him about lapband that put his mind at easy to where now he's completely supportive. I agree it probably was too much too soon, though. I was thinking I should have approached it in a different way than I did though. Too late to take it back now, though. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
