TOOOOO Tight????

Recommended Posts

I had a fill last tuesday and even though it was a bit tight I am still able to get liquids down but not much food. I can only eat 3-4 bites of something soft and that's it. I have been getting my Protein in by drinking Protein shakes about 2 times a day since I can not eat in the morning or afternoon only little bites. But I have noticed that around 9pm I am able to eat a little more then 4 bites.

Does that mean I am too tight? Should I get an unfill? I dont physically feel hungry. I do have pain if I eat to fast or too much and PB once or twice a day...Maybe I am too tight???

Here's what worries me...I don't like the fact that you're pbing everyday.

I think I'd do a couple of days of liquids, just to stop the pbs. Then I'd do mushies. If you start to pb again on the mushies, I'd get a little tiny unfill. It's very possible that once your stomach settles down, you won't need one. You really don't want to be too tight. It quickly leads to bad habits and lots of slider foods.

Cindy's reply is exactly my suggestion too.

You swell after a fill and you swell after a PB. If you never let the swelling go down (which it doesn't if you PB every day), you can't really gauge you're at. My doc requires just 24 hours of liquids after a fill but I've learned that personally, I need mushies for a few days too.

I should add that I've had two unfills. Both times, after my fill I was able to drink fine but tried mushy food too soon and PB'd. Within 3 days or so I couldn't keep Water down so I went in for unfills. Ever since I realized my body needs more time than normal for swelling to go down, I've had 4 or 5 fills with no problems.

Good luck.

In Jan. it will be a year that I've been banded and I've learned that some people are just more sensible with the fills than others. Me being one of them. My doctor has had to unfill about 3 times and then one band slipped. I would definitly be very careful and possible visit your doctor soon. I know I like the fact that I wasn't hungry but it doesnt feel good when you can not eat nor drink. Just to be on the safe side, visit your doctor.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
