NYdad 21 Posted December 1, 2010 Hey everyone, Please help me. I got my 2nd fill the other day and this is the first time I felt any different. Tonight, I ate chicken breast and vegetables. This was the first time I had to stop. I actually had to stop because I began to feel sick. Is this normal? Is that sick feeling what full feels like? I actually had to excuse my self because I thought I was going to puke. I'm not even sure about puking anymore, did I puke? I stood over the toilet and a clear Fluid came up. what confuses me is this clear fluid came up so easily. not like puking, ya know when your puking your blood vessels in your face break because of the force. It wasn't like that at all. Next question, since I had this minor discomfort and possible puking, was I stuck? Is that what stuck feels like? I'm so confused please help. Thanks

Thanks This happens to me when i am to tight, I actually am going in for a slight unfill tomorrow because of this. Its not really "throwing up" its kind of o like spitting up. Like a baby does... Its just comes up as it goes down and I always have tons of clear liquid with it... I also can not eat chicken breast anymore for that reason... it doesnt go down and causes me a lot of discomfort. I find that dark meats go down ALOT easier! Hope this was helpful
Taterbugsmom 0 Posted December 1, 2010 Sounds like you had your first stuck episode, please accept my condolences! :huggie: I am working on this issue myself eek! The clear liquid is what is referred to as "sliming", from what I understand whenever food is stuck your body produces mucous to try & help clear the obstruction. I have yet to just "slime", it's always followed by a vomit. chicken is tricky for me that's for sure. It takes some a long time to get to that point of restriction. So I guess, be thankful? Make sure the next time you eat that you are very aware of your bite sizes and to chew up your food WELL, if it happens again you most likely need a slight unfill. Best of luck to you! NYdad 21 Posted December 1, 2010 so is it likely this is caused by eating too fast or not chewing enough? Up until this fill I could eat as much as I wanted and basically as fast as I wanted. I was able to eat at my other meals today without feeling full. I guess I don't feel like I am at the sweet spot because I was hungry all day and couldn't wait for dinner. I start wanting to eat again after about an hour. I don't, but I want too. I have a large band and currently have 7cc in it. Thanks for replying.
Taterbugsmom 0 Posted December 1, 2010 so is it likely this is caused by eating too fast or not chewing enough? According to my surgeon (lord knows they all have different opinions on here), he says proper restriction is when you can go 3/4 hours between meals. I would think you aren't to tight and maybe just had a little "operator error"
Cocoabean 430 Posted December 1, 2010 What you describe is classic "stuck and sliming"! chicken breast is notorious. I stay away from it. Dark meat is OK, but something about the texture and moisture content of the breast meat just does me in. You might still be able to eat it if you take smaller bites, the size of a pencil eraser small, chew well, and wait about 30 seconds in between to be sure all is well before taking another. Thanks I ate a banana too quickly the other night. Suddenly I thought I was going to puke. I went into the bathroom and stood over the toilet. Nothing happened. I was nauseous as all hell. I think this is called an "episode."
123crod 170 Posted December 1, 2010 chicken is one of those foods that I never know if I can eat or not until I eat it. I have always been when something is coming up it comes with such force and no effort on my part. Once I drank some coffee that on that day did not want to stay down and came up so fast it come though my nose too, that was super gross. With chicken try dipping it in a sauce or Fat Free salad dressing it helps it go down. Cheri
