How are recently banded doing?

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to know how the recently banded have been doing? So far I have not had a whole lot of trouble with the gas. I have been sipping on broth and Protein Shakes. Still a little sore but it is slowly easing. Hope eveyone has a safe and merry Christmas. I know us newbies will be drinking our broth for Christmas dinner I just keep telling meself this is only one day and it will pass quickly.

A holiday hug to eveyone

Karla;-)

I had mine done on the 9th, I'm doing well. I feel totally normal again now, I lost almost 6kg during the liquids phase, started mushies last Thursday and since then my weight has not budged an ounce, although I guess to get through Christmas (we had 3 christmas dinners to go to ANd a birthday dinner) is pretty good going, I never would have managed that before.

I suspect my fast weight loss ride is over now though and it's going to settle down to slow and steady so its time to stop jumping on the scales everytime I happen to be in the bathroom.

I've had no trouble eating very well - I can manage about a cup at a time, no desire to snack between meals and I've been getting in fruit and veges and overall eating better than I have in a long time.

I had my lap band done on 12/5/05. I go for my first adjustment on 1/12/06. I'm concerned though because I don't have that "full" feeling like most describe to me. I feel like it's my normal tummy and I'm just on a major diet. Did anyone else feel like this? I had dry heaves 3 times in the hospital-ended up staying overnight because I was too sick to drink Water. I'm afraid the dry heaves caused the band to "pop loose" if this possible? Any thoughts? Suggestions? PLUS-I just realized my adjustment is being done at a surgery center-I hope my insurance covers this too?

I had my surgery done on 11-15 and my first fill was two days ago. Before my 1st fill I too was feeling like I could eat anything without any ill affects. Since the fill it has been a different story. I can really feel the restriction. I think that your fill will really help your state of mind and your appetite! Good Luck!

GloryRain, the thing is, until you have a fill you have absolutely NO RESTRICTION. You may have had a little swelling from the surgery, and yes, the band is around your stomach, but it's about as tight as a hoola-hoop would be. Until they start filling it, it is just THERE. Once the swelling has gone down you could pretty much eat as you did before the surgery.

I was banded on 12/01. I just started solids and I'm still adjusting to chewing a million times before I swallow. Tonight I ate a small wrap and ate too fast. I had pain and the sensation to burp. Eventually I had it come up like slime a couple of times and I feel fine now Other then worrying about possible damage I may have caused.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
