tylee72198 10 Posted November 29, 2010 Ever since I was banded, I have craved pickles. Not just any craving, but I can eat a whole gallon of them in a week. Some days I crave them more than others. What is in pickles, besides sodium, that my body might be missing? I'm happy that it is pickles and not carbs or sweets. It might be the sodium that I'm missing. I'm not exactly the world's biggest fan of salt. I don't crave bananas, so I don't think it is potassium.
honk 780 Posted November 29, 2010 Can't really answer your question; but the nurse at my doctor's office recommend dill pickles as a way to get over cravings for crunchy foods. I had been avoiding them because of the salt content. If you blood pressure is good they may not be that much of a problem.
.Maria. 0 Posted November 30, 2010 Yuuummm!!! I love pickles. I don't really have an answer for you, sorry. But I have been craving milk, I drink like 3 or 4 cups of the 1% everyday which is weird cause I never drank milk like that before and I know I take enough of the chewable Calcium daily. Hmm, Im going to ask my surgeon...
honk 780 Posted November 30, 2010 FYI my grocery stores carry pickle snack cups (baby gerkins). Provides built in Portion Control. I did buy them but only ended up eating 2 servings in about a month.
