Have not exercised

It could be the gym I attend but there are a lot of people, regardless of size, who I think look really silly so I don't think I look any worse. FYI I had a woman come up to me in the changing room who said she told her mother that someone at the gym used a snorkle and now her elderly mother feels comfortable swimming using one. I'd had several people ask about the MP3 player and one who told me that it had been the best exercise advice she had ever received (crazy huh). When I started swimming my pool was hosting extra high school swim teams (the other local pool was under repair; I would walk out of the changing room and there would be 50 parents watching practice. I would walk by them and get in the open lane. I figure people can't judge me for being fat and then judge me because I look funny when I excerise.

I looked around and found a snorkel for lap swimming and training. It's called the Swimmer's Snorkel by Finis and it seems to run about $35. I think I'll give it a go soon! Thanks for the idea.

I just started exercising as well. My doctor doesn't recommend walking as she sees it as 'inefficient". Also, living in Maine, it is starting to be that time of year when walking outside can be more of a challenge.

I go the gym and ride the recumbent bike. I was riding for 20 minutes last week, 25 minutes now this week......and I will keep adding to it slowly. I don't go crazy for that 25 minutes...if I need to slow down and stop....I do.....for a minute or two......and then start again.

I have an issue with my leg that makes some exercise challenging. I am hoping once I drop some more weight, my options for exercising will increase. When the weather is nice, I will add walking as I just like getting out and getting fresh air. Plus I live in a great neighborhood where everyone is out walking (although I may need to rent a big dog or a little kid to fit in...) ;-)

I do know, my challenge has been making working out a PRIORITY. I have "scheduled" it into my week. Monday, Thursday, Friday evening....and either Saturday or Sunday.

This is for life....so I can ease into it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
