Hi! Welcome! I am also new to this site...I just started today. I did my liquid diet just 8 weeks ago and it is hard. I just kept focusing on the whole reason I was having the surgery and stayed positive. Keep yourself busy and be sure to drink lots of Water or diet juice. I actually was never starving on the liquid diet. I had to force myself to have 1 or 2 of the shakes a day to get them all in. I always felt full. I think it was because I drank a lot of water. Did you try sugar free popscicles? Don't get discouraged-you can do it!

Good Luck and keep us all posted.

I'm not sure what all liquids you are having, but I was adding a Protein Powder to my drinks. You can buy unflavored so you can add it to anything. Having more Protein will help keep the hunger away.

The liquid diet is torture, but our surgeons have us do it for a reason. Keep focus on the prize. It will all be worth it when you are a healthier you! Keep drinking Water. Keep yourself distracted. Like a previous poster suggested.

You are half way there! You can do it! Keep up the good work.

i was banded on nov 22 and the diet does not get any easier. when i came home all i could have was Water and Jello, now its Soup, Protein Drinks, and oatmeal all sugar free. the diet is really hard, i stuck to the pre op diet as best as i could no junk or fast food, all healthy, my doctor said it was ok, they want you to do the diet before because cleans out your liver, good luck because this is a journey of a life time!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
