URGENT QUESTION: Getting an unfill for Plastic Surgery????

I am going in for a Tummy Tuck and mid back lift on Dec 17 and don't know if I should get an unfill or not. I am currently at 6.5cc. When I called to schedule an unfill the lady didn't seem to think it was neccessary. She was more worried about making sure I watch out cause I'm not going to have any restriction.

What did other folks do?

I am having a Tummy Tuck and boob job on Wednesday. I haven't been told to have an unfill. I am a little worried about having trouble with the band during recovery. I plan to stick to shakes for the first few days.

I actually got a fill I believe 3 weeks before my mini Tummy Tuck. Things went well after my tuck until post op 3 weeks. Things got tight for some reason and I suffered for 3 more weeks when I finally got an unfill.

I think if your not quite at your sweet spot don't get an unfill (if your doctor leaves it up to you). If your at your sweet spot I would maybe go for an unfill. I was basically at my sweet spot maybe a little overfilled but could live with it. I wish I didn't get my fill right before surgery because I then had it removed after my tuck.

However everyone is different and so are docs. If it is easy for you to get an unfill then maybe don't worry about it as long as your doc says you can get one after surgery. If you live hours away from your doc, cant get an appointment easily etc then maybe get an unfill.

My doc is usually easy to get to but literally the day after my surgery there became some problems hence the 3 weeks overfill hell.

Thanks! I am not quite at my sweet spot that's why I don't feel is neccessary to get an unfill....I think I'm going to stay with my current state and see what happens. Folks say you don't have an appeptite for the first week of recovery anyway so I'll just go on a liquid diet....

Mia26 -

If you have any issues with anesthesia please get an unfill. You don't want to be having nausea issues with your band. I had a Tummy Tuck May 2009 and I had dry heaves for the first day. It was horrible to hurl when I just had my tummy tuck. They gave me everything they could for nausea both pre and post op, but I still had issues. Like most folks say you probably won't have an appetite for the first week, but then it will come back.

Make sure you're getting enough nutrition while you're healing from your surgery. My doctor recommended a Vitamin C supplement to help with healing.

Best wishes to you. Let us know how you make out.

This is a question for your plastic surgeon to field. (S/he's the one to talk to, rather than the bariatric surgeon.) The PS I'm using does require unfill.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
