Dumbest Thing I Saw on the News

Recommended Posts

I saw last week on Channel 2 News a segment on a doctor who hypnotizes people to believe that they have had lapband surgery so that they lose weight. He charges $1200 for 4 sessions!

They highlighed two clients of his. One lost 20 lbs over like 6 months, and the other just tried it. And guess what, she lost 1 lb that week!

If you want a laugh you can google it and see if it pops up. They built up "going under the knife" to such an extreme. And I was watching the segment, 7 days post op, thinking "these people have no idea what the heck this feels like!"

I read about this in an English womans mag. The woman involved lost all her excess weight and looks great. I don't know how you could be hypnotised into believing you had surgery. No scars, no fills, no hospital bill etc.........

I tried hypnosis previously to lose weight and they couldn't even hypnotise me into believing I didn't like chocolate! I suppose it depends on how susceptible to hypnosis you are.

You have to be 'willing' in order to be hypnotized and some of us are just too skeptical/untrusting to allow ourselves to be that willing no matter how much we think the outcome is worth it.

Perhaps the people successful at this are emotional eaters...or eat because of head hunger. I don't know how hypnosis could convince you that you aren't hungry when your stomach is painfully spasming and growling...which mine did constantly prior to the band.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
