Outrageous Octobers 2010

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I can't find our thread since the upgrade and just wondered how everyone was doing. I have lost 30 pounds including pre-op. My weight loss has stalled at the moment. I am having my first fill on Dec 3rd, 7 weeks post op, and hope that will help me kick start my weight loss, I am also able to increase my exercise this week.

Hi...I was banded on the 19th of Oct. I have my first fill on the 3rd of Dec. I too have stalled on weight lose. I lost 22 lbs but have come to a stop. I was wondering if you have had any problems with the port site? I think I slept wrong and it has irritated the port. I have a burning type pain. I feels like it did when I first has the band done. Good luck on your journey.

Hi Dooney

I haven't had any problems with my port....I am not even sure exactly where it is. I would ask the doc on Friday or give them a call earlier in the week if you are worried.

I did have some chicken breast at work last night and that caused a lot of burping and a little sickness. It was a bit dry so that may have caused it but its the first problem I have had. It lasted about 20 minutes.

Let me know about your port and how the fill goes.

I was banded late October (27th?) - So I am on week 4.5 of recovery - longest I have EVER been out of work in 30 years. I a get my fist fill Jan 3rd. I am down 35 or so lbs from the lifestyle change (= diet) from the nutritionist. I have full faith in her which helps a lot. Since being banded I feel no restriction, have little appetite, and pay closer attention to my eating habits. I am just feeling close to 100% and did some lite yard work today (live in New England and had to PAY someone to remove the leaves from the lawn this fall). Went to the pistol range this AM and shot some large caliber ammo w no problems and removed an AC from a window. Christmas is a big deal for us (food wise) and I will participate (minimaly) - but not w/ a 2 oz pouch (ouch) - I am saving that for 20111 and beyond !

Hope y'all are having a great holiday season -

HI,

I was banded on 10/27

I am down about 34 lbs but the scaled hasn't moved at all in about 2 weeks. I go for my first fill tomorrow!

I have no restriction and can eat just about anything. I do get a satisfied feeling though. I haven't pushed it....I stop when I feel satisfied.

I did something yesterday and it now feels like I have a muscle pull near my port....it hurts to move and lay certain ways.

Jackie

Hi everyone,

I am down 26 lbs since being banded on 10/01/2010. I feel like I can eat more than I should be able to so I can't wait for my second fill in Dec.

Was banded 10/15. So far with pre-op and post op I'm at 34lbs lost. YAYYY!! Getting my second fill Nov 30. I have no restriction and have absolutely no problems. I have lost 6 lbs the last 2 weeks since fill 1 but that was all will power. I usually feel I satisfied after Breakfast and lunch but by the time dinner rolls around... I could eat a horse. I do have an issue getting 64 oz of Water in. I don't know way. Some days I can some I cant.

Good job everyone!! Here's to a productive December.

Doing great - I've lost 30# sine surgery 10/1, including pre op.... Breezed through thanksgiving - working out great. Feeling great. Very excited about Mondays now - I weigh myself on Mondays - I've been loosing an average of 3.5 pounds a week since I started. I'm very happy about that. Has anyone being doing anything fun for their workouts? Mine us just treadmill and eliptical right now. Some weights, but nothing huge.

Here is our old site too.October 10 Bandsters

Hi Everyone! I'm been lurking here for a while, learning from each of your experiences. I was banded on 10/26/10. All together I have lost 27 lbs. I get my first fill on 12/9/10, so I am officially in what y'all call Bandster Hell...lol I can eat most things but I have been making good food choices and have started back on the eliptical at the gym. Thankssgiving was okay, watched my portions and did not gain any....but having houseguests for the long holiday weekend has made it tough....I don't normally have pie in the house. So that is how I'm doing....pretty good so far!

I was banded OCt 21. I have lost 28 pounds. I think I have restiction. I have no Fluid in band but I get satisfied with very little food and can go 4 hours between meals. I need to take in more Protein. I have my first fill appointment tomorrow but I don't think I need a fill yet. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Hi!

I too was banded on October 19th. Congratulations to you. I also am feeling like I am not losing anymore. I already had a fill at 4 weeks post op but I don't feel any different yet at all. I also started to excercise more just the last 4 days. Hang in there....

Hello, this is great information, I was Banded on Oct, 11th and have lost 26lbs. I have my first fill on Dec. 7th and was becoming a little concern because the weight loss has began to be a slow process. I often remind myself of the success I have obtain since being banded without any fills. I have restrictions most days where I fill full easily and some days it seems as if I can consume more than I should. I also had to start making better food choices. But, one of the greatest rewards has been when someone says you have lost a lot of weight, it regenerates my strength and courage to keep on keeping on in the right direction.

Hi Everyone!

Sounds like everyone is doing great!

I'm pleased with my progress so far. Banded on October 20th, lost 22 pounds so far. Got through Thanksgiving without losing my mind. I've felt great pretty much since the beginning. Pain after surgery wasn't so great I couldn't deal with it, was walking for an hour at a time within 3 days after surgery and went back to work in a little over a week after surgery. I go for my first fill on December 20th but have felt a bit of restriction - I have definitely experienced the "stuck" feeling and it hurts a bit so I have learned a lesson from that. I am looking forward to the first fill but am a bit apprehensive because it is right before Christmas and I haven't told my family (with the exception of one brother) about the surgery. I am hopeful I will at least be able to eat "mushy" food by Christmas so I can continue to keep this my business and not that of my entire extended family - which would happen if my dad knows! He's a terrible gossip!

Keep up the good work October Bandsters! :D

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
