Banded Weds 24th

Recommended Posts

Hello, Looking forward to my journey with you all...

Had our Thanksgiving dinner last weekend... and I was BANDED WEDNESDAY 24th ( 2 days ago). Still feeling bloaty from the gas and the only sore/painful area is the port. Started mush today about 3 table spoons and I feel bloated/cramping... is this normal?

Any idea how to get rid of the gas from the surgery?

Thanks

Welcome to bandland :) !

I'm surprised you are on mush already, most doc's recommend at least a week of Clear Liquids for healing. It could be the cause of your cramping. Try gas-x for the gas pains as well as some gentle walking around the house.

Hi, You could also try the thermapacks. They are heat packs that stick on your skin, the heat helps the gas pains. I also was on clear liquids for first 2 days and now on full liquids until post op visit, surprised you are on mush already. Thanks

Getting frustrated.blink.gif... any help please....

My surgery was Wednesday 24th.

Today is day 3 and doing better with gas pains... now onward with the hungry belly.....

I have heard I should be on liquid only. However, yesterday was a bad day and I felt like was going to lose it and put anything in my mouth!!

Therefore, I phoned the doc yesterday and he said start mush diet and we will see you Tuesday (7 days post-op)

I was shocked when I heard this...

If I stick to the liquid diet...

What do you drink?

How much?

How often?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
