Plastic Surgery Questions...

Recommended Posts

Hello out there...

I'm 40 pounds from my personal goal. I've already spoke with a plastic surgeon about a body lift. Here are my questions:

I was told that the extra fat that's still on me is "good" because it's easier for him to cut it off and to transplant it elsewhere, like my bum.

Has anyone heard that it's better to be in my situation (not at goal) compared to being at or below goal before platic surgery?

Any bit of insight would help me greatly!

Thanks,

Rebecca

I had a straight lower body lift and my PS wanted me to be at goal when I had my op. My op was scheduled for 2 months from the consult and I still had about 10lbs to lose at the time.

He didn't do any fat transfer and very little contouring. I assume that your surgeon is talking about fat transfer - is this what you're after? I wanted as little fat on my body as possible, even if it meant I had no butt! lol! He also explained that by being close to or at goal, my skin would be as taut as possible. I went on to lose further 20+lbs after my LBL and while my skin is still smooth, it's not 'tight' like if I'd had done the surgery once my weight had completely stabilised. I don't have regrets but it's something to think about.

There are pics of my tummy in my gallery if you wanted to have a look and see what I mean.

Thanks so much for your info! I don't care about the fat transfer, I've never had a bum, lol, so I don't know what I'd be missing - LOL.

I want to wait til I'm at goal and super toned, I don't wanna have any regrets or still be jiggling after my body lift - that would be sooo lame...

thanks again!

Rebecca

I had a FTT done 2 years ago when I weighed about 165lbs, I did it because it didnt matter how much weight I was losing I hated my stomach after 6 kids. I was willing to take the risk in order to get the boost I needed, and I was lucky because my skin kept up with the subsequent weight loss. I now weight about 112lb and my tummy is still tight - cant say the same for the rest of me, I am having a BA this year cos the girls are looking saaaad! If you need a boost to get rid of the rest of the weight then go for it is my advice.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
