So what is everyone doing for Thanksgiving?

Recommended Posts

Tody is my most favorite holiday - it's not about money or presents, it's about family and memories made. I cook a huge meal and we eat and eat and eat. So this will be a new experience for me. I was banded 10/18/10, and had my first fill 11/18/10. I have followed my plan to the T... and proud to say so. Today, I will treat myself, I will eat my thanksgiving meal in stages, each entree at about 1/2 a cup, I'll forgoe the parts I'm not fanatic about, eat small amounts at each of my 6 meals. Startinge with a small homemade cinnimon Breakfast roll. Yummmmmmmy....

The band is a tool. Not a disease or a jail cell. I'm going to enjoy my time with my family and eat when I'm hungry.

I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving Holiday.

Leah, I absolutely love your outlook on Thanksgiving. I have never thought about it being such a wonderful holiday with no money or gifts involved. You are absolutely right, we all should enjoy this blessed day with family and friends. Enjoy all of the small talk and show gratitude for all that we have. God bless!

Since my daughter works later today and is off Tuesdays, I had Thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday with her, my son-in-law, my son, daughter-in-law and two new grandsons - 6 months and 2 months. It was a blessing to have them and I am thankful but holidays are difficult, too, as I lost my husband to cancer 5 years ago. He was only 56 and didn't live to see his grandchildren.

But today I am going to my son-in-law's parents and am bringing a mixed berry pie and pumpkin roll.

Thanksgiving is only one day a year - so I am not interested in articles about how to make the dinner with fewer calories. I want the traditional meal with all the trimmings. There is no harm in enjoying this one day.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!

All my family is too far away to get together with for TG.. so we're just doing it here at home. My 21 & 23 y/o's help with the cooking and dh keeps the dishwasher going. :)

We modify the dishes a little.. adding extra veggies to the dressing, using low fat or non fat items where appropriate.

We had oyster stew for a light lunch and TG dinner will be cajun smoked turkey, green bean casserole, spinach magdaline, baked sweet potatoes, cornbread dressing, and pumpkin souffle (basically a pumpkin pie w/o a crust).

I'm planning on just eating small portions. For some exercise I've been dancing to the radio while cooking.. much to the amusement of my ds and dogs. LOL I wanted to do a turkey trot, but too far to drive and still come home & cook. :(

Going to my brothers with my hubby and parents. I'm still on the liquids stage so made a yummy potato Soup (found the recipe here I think). At this point, not really caring about not eating the other stuff. Just want to get through my first 6 weeks :)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

I have a banded family, so we are all doing Thanksgiving together (MIL, FIL, DH, and me). I made turkey meatballs in cranberry sauce, pumpkin souffle and mashed sweet potatoes with pineapple puree. Even my two babies can have the puree! Works well. Happy T-day everyone!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
