Thanksgiving Food

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, so it is eating season, lol What are some of you going to do to try to encourage / maintain your weight loss during the holidays? And what types of foods are on your families menu?

We are having turkey breast, cornbread stuffing, mac n cheese, green beens, yams, crescent rolls, pumpkin pie, (and a full buttercream sheet cake, it is also my sisters 20th b-day)

What the heck am i gonna do? One thing i am gonna try is to not eat any 2nds!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

I called the host to make sure they had a salad plate I could use. Won't eat anymore than fits on it. Good luck.

I'm really happy I've got good restriction right now. I think this will definately help me. In a way, I'm a little sad I won't enjoy the food as much as I used to in the past, but one day is not worth the misery you feel when you over eat! Good luck to everyone!

One thing I read on here was to remember that its a "holiday" and not a "holiweek", Im having one reasonably sized plate and when the food on it is finished so am I. Just thinking about all the weight I used to gain over 1 day makes me cringe.

I was banded 11.19.10 so I get to be the cooking instructor to my husband and 3 sons. I think it will be fun! I have zero hunger still. We have cut a few things out but will have all the favorites. My family is planning an afternoon walk in the nature park so we can get some nice outdoor family photos while the leaves are still on. I also made a big fresh salad for everyone to have for lunch-ish time so they can make it till dinner at 4ish. Not our usual fatty finger bites.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
