Today was my B-day ... I feel good

Recommended Posts

Today was my band day and I feel great ... arrived at 9 a.m. left surgical center at approximately 2 p.m. The doctor was running behind ... surgery was scheduled for 10 a.m. and I didn't receive anesthesia until approximately 11:45. My doctor is great but the anesthesiologist had the personality of a gnat. Recovering from the anesthesia was the most difficult part due to the gas ... but I feel really good now.

I must have drank 4 oz of Water before leaving the surgical center and started drinking Gatorade once I got home. I am going to try to get the 20 oz bottle down if possible. I have been hanging on the couch with extra pillows and am taking pain meds on the schedule for today so I don't get any unnecessary pain.

The only bad thing about the entire day was a 78 year old lady ran into my car while my daughter and sister went to Walmart while I was in surgery. I can't believe it but I didn't even get upset although I LOVE my Toyota Avalon. NO one was hurt and it is something I will worry about after next week.

I have been walking 10 laps on my 40 foot deck every hour and have dozed off a couple of times while holding down the couch for an hour.

congradulations on becoming a bandster!

When I had mine done I would wake up and just grin and pinch myself, to make sure I wasn't dreaming!

Remember this is a time of healing, so don't over do it! :Banane39: Be sure to follow your Dr.s orders too....

Happy banding :welldoneclap:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
