If you were to have erosion of the band, How long or soon does it take to happen? 1st 3 months? 6 months? 1 year? or many years?

It could be any of those. Early erosion is often due to surgical error. Later erosion is probably more likely to be caused by having the band too tight.

Elcee is definitely correct. . the band acts differently in all our bodies. . . I know a close friend of mine had the lapband, she had great success with it. . but within 6 months it had slipped and was causing her a lot of problems, and also erosion was occurring. She ended up having to have the whole system removed. We had the same surgeon so I am a firm believer it's just how our body accepts the band, as some of us seem to just reject it.

i got erosion 4 months after surgery. It was super small and we're not sure how it happened. I know others who got it more then a year after surgery. Everyone is different just remember to follow your doctors orders very closely

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
