Had to go in for an "unfill" today....

Recommended Posts

Well, after a week of having my 2nd fill, I finally called the doctor and told them that I was miserable. I was burping constantly and vomiting after every meal. I couldn't hold anything down until late at night. I would find myself not eating all day and then by 9pm starving b/c I could finally hold down food. I even gained a couple of pounds. They said I had too much of a fill and took out 0.4 cc's today. What a difference! I am on all liquids and having broth for lunch and no discomfort or burping!! I am hoping this might be my sweet spot. She had mentioned that this could be it due to the fact that I was slightly over filled this time and underfilled last time. :blushing:

Anyone else had to go through this???

I am not going to get discouraged b/c of the weight gain b/c It happens. Today is a new day and going to just keep moving along!!! :w00t:

As you obviously know by now, an unfill is not necessarily a bad thing. Being too tight can be downright miserable! In my experience, it was difficult for me to come to the realization that I needed a little Fluid taken out, I didn't want to, but being uncomfortable everytime I ate is not something I wanted to live with. I found myself pbing and sliming a couple of times a week and was embarrassed when it happened with friends. Just a total of .2 cc's unfill was all I needed to make me feel "normal" again.

I guess we can both chalk it up to lessons learned. Your weight gain could be from swelling caused by pbing and the inability to eat more solid food. It's so easy to eat slider foods, softer foods that go down easy and yet aren't good for you. It seems like you end up eating all the wrong things when you're too tight, just because it's the only stuff that goes down. But in the end, the ability to eat a more varied diet and more solid food is what helps with the weight loss. I guess sometimes you need to go "backwards" to go forward.

Good luck to you! Hope you've found your spot!

I have had to have several unfills. I hesitated every time. I was miserable for longer than necessary. I was so afraid if I had some taken out I would be starving, and the doc. is an hour away. Glad you went in and are feeling better.

For those of you that have been at this a little longer, I am wondering how long did it take you to start getting the real restriction and start loosing a steady amount of weight?? Also what kind of diet did you follow.. I knew this wasnt the fix all but I really thought it would give me alot more restriction than this.. I am ready to start seeing the pounds drop off.. I was banded the 15th of Oct and got my first fill today.. Only 1.5 cc though..Any advice is welcomed.

I think It was good for me to experience being too tight once so now I know it is not for me. But I think it was a good expreience for me to know what it felt like. NOT GOOD!!

I have to agree with Cheri on this one....I don't think I could ever appreciate adequate restriction until I was too tight. Now I've learned that the elusive sweet spot is not some magical place where you can eat everything when you want to, but never be hungry. The sweet spot is actually the balance between enough restriction and your own personal effort. Now that I know I prefer to have my band slightly looser, I know I have to be a little more diligent in my choices.

I've had my band 2+ years, and I'm still learning how to work this thing.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
