I was banded in Aug '09. At 12 months I had lost 35 lbs and at 15 months I have lost 48 lbs. I have gone from a 24/26 to an 18/20. I am very discouraged because I have not lost more. My band was filled to 7cc's at 2 months post surgery, 8cc's 3 months post surgery, 9cc's 5 months post surgery, 9.5cc's 7 months post surgery and 10cc's 9 months post surgery and that is where I am today. I always feel good restriction in the morning but by evening, I do not feel restriction. I know I am eating less but obviously not enough to lose at a very good rate. Any suggestions??userfield_edit.gif

I was banded about the same time as you (7/30/09). I still count my calories every day so I know where I am. I try to stay at 1200 calories and remember to eat lots of Protein. Also, I wear a bodybugg (you can google it if you don't know what it is) so I see where I am as far as steps taken and calories burned. I find it to be motivating. Good Luck.

Don't be discouraged. I was banded in June of 2008 and have lost 50 lbs. I am down to a 14-16. My medication has been cut by 3/4 and all my blood tests are great. Just remember that not everyone loses at the same rate. As long as you are losing, while slower than you want , remember it is a lifetime commitment. You are getting healthier. Keep up the GOOD work. It is a difficult process but you are winning and will win big in the long run.

My surgeon and everyone in his office really stress exercising....have you been moving more? If not, that may be what you need to kick start your weight loss.

Don't be discouraged. Without the band, you could have easily gained weight!

Take it back to square one, measure your food, count your calories, carbs, Protein, etc.

Start an exercise program. It's so easy to get down about what's not happening with your body. Use it as motivation to get back on track.

Many before us have accomplished wonders with this band, and you can too.

Good luck :(

Count your calories. I know it sounds like a pain, but with a good system it’s not really that hard. I used the Sparkpeople app for the iPhone and it was super easy. Track them and weigh yourself daily. Compare your daily calorie count with weightloss/gain. I found that if I maintained under 1800 calories a day I lost, over that I was flat or gained. If you exercise, you may be able to consume a little more that day but don’t get carried away. Remember that a moderate gym workout is probably only 00-600 calories – that doesn’t justify a reward at the ice cream shop. Aslo make sure you are getting enough Protein. If you are not getting enough protein your body will take energy from your muscles, you don’t want to lose weight from muscles your goal is to lose fat.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
