MaineJackie 3 Posted November 17, 2010 Something is going to get "stuck"?? Is it an immediate sensation? Or is it delayed?? If it is delayed, how long can it take to feel "stuck"? I don't have any restriction yet and haven't had any issue with getting stuck and just want to know what to expect.
FinallyFree0812 9 Posted November 17, 2010 I don't have any restriction yet either, but this morning I was eating too fast and not chewing enough and I got stuck! I knew it right away. I kinda feels like it does when you take a pill and it doesn't go all the way down. Luckily from reading other people's posts, I knew to raise my arms above my head and magically, it seemed to go down.
JuneAct2 0 Posted November 17, 2010 You will know it pretty quick. And, it's NOT pleasant. I agree with Kim, that it feels something like a pill going down wrong. That is why you need to eat slowly, and chew your food well. Put your fork down between bites and wait a few seconds before taking another bite. You don't want to be stuck and piling more food on top of it. It won't take many episodes of being stuck to teach you to slow down!
vlp1968 83 Posted November 17, 2010 For me the feeling comes on gradually. I have learned to stop eating as soon as I feel stuck. Sometimes walking around until I burp makes the feeling go away. Other times it has to come up.
jen36 1 Posted November 17, 2010 I actually experienced it last night and I actually ended up vomiting. I ate a croissant which I should have known better because bread is really not my friend anymore but I did it anyway and it took awhile of spitting up and vomiting to feel better but the stuck feeling was immediate for me. LowPSI 0 Posted November 17, 2010 I was banded a week ago and was allowed to progress to "Mushies" today. So...I made some canned chicken with a little low-fat mayo. I also decided that a cracker would go really nice with it. (It always used to!) WRONG! I actually though I didn't have any real restriction. HaHaHa In some ways, I'm glad I got stuck (took about 15 mins to resolve.) so that 1. I know what it feels like; 2. I know at least one thing NOT to do and: 3. I know I don't want it to happen again! nikki505 0 Posted November 17, 2010 Also, when you think something is stuck and you try to drink Water to help it go down............. WRONG! You will barely have time to make it to the bathroom. You would think I would have learned the first time, but no, I've actually made this mistake a few times.

MaineJackie 3 Posted November 18, 2010 Thanks for all the great info! I am hoping not to ever get "stuck" but I know that sooner or later it will happen. I had visions of being at a lunch meeting at work when it happens and wanted to know if I was going to yack in front of everyone.:blushing: Jackie
