DeLarla 22 Posted December 23, 2005 Diagnosis: Erosion with bonus stomach inflammation and esophogeal erosions. Symptoms: Yes, it just feels different, squishy, gurgly, odd, off. I sure hope the truth doesn't scare Johnny.

Guest myband Posted December 23, 2005 HI, Images are amazing. In the 3rd photo, what is the strip of dark brown with a couple of green splashes? Very clear photos. Did you have the band removed? if so will they put another one on in a few months. So sorry this has happened to you and I wish you well. Thankyou for sharing photos, I find it so fasinating to see what erosion looks like. I was talking about erosion to my Dr last week and cost of repairs or maybe replacement etc. He said there is no cost to patient for any future surgery or anything connected to the band or as a result of the band. We are covered for the rest of our lives. He said he has not had any errosions with the VG band.
DeLarla 22 Posted December 23, 2005 Anybody please feel free to adjust the size of the picture. I have a headache and don't feel like dealing with it, but at least I'm still laughing.
Alexandra 55 Posted December 23, 2005 I managed to change the picture size; that was a little overwhelming. These are very clear photos! What is your doctor's recommendation for action? What are your plans?
DeLarla 22 Posted December 23, 2005 "What is the strip of dark brown with a couple of green splashes?" From my understanding, that's the eroded band eaten into the stomach, right? No, I haven't had the band removed but I need to. I'm working on details but would rather just go lay down and sleep off the anesthesia. Thanks for everyone's nice words, but honestly, I think I'm okay with this. I've always "had a feeling" I'd erode, and I was right. I want to start a whole new thread about Mexican erosions and port complications, but I'm completely exhausted. I'm convinced that 100% of patients who were banded in Mexico and had ANY type of port complication, issue, infection, flip, etc., will erode. Just my opinion, but I have a good network system and I share this opinion with some pretty impressive folks including a band surgeon. I want the thing out immediately but will have to see where the road takes me. I did consult with an excellent band surgeon (not in Nevada) who said erosion is a very slow process, so any holes seal themselves closed as the erosion progresses. However, he said an endoscopy could potentially cause a problem, and the first 24 hours are critical that I don't get severe abdominal cramps or fever. I'm to eat mushies and liquids for a couple days to make sure the endo didn't poke a hole, and a bad "stuck food" episode could land me in the ER. This doc said the last place I want to end up is having my band removed in a Vegas ER with clueless docs who "think" they can handle eroded band removal. They can't, so I'm hoping for a safe 24 hours.
chichigirl 1 Posted December 23, 2005 Oh Lisa, I am so very sorry. I hope that you are now on the road to recovery for your insides. Did they go ahead and remove the band or does that require another surgery? My heart goes out to you, you have been through so much already, this really stinks. I know they have to remove the band and get you all healed up, but are you going to think about what your other options are right now? Please don't give up, you deserve for something to go right for you. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Again I'm so sorry this has happened. Take Care, Cindy
Iluvharleys 15 Posted December 23, 2005 Awwww Lisa, I am so very sorry. I can't believe this is happening to so many of you.
DeLarla 22 Posted December 23, 2005 Betty, the key is that it's happening to so many of us from the same cluster. Pretty scary considering the volume of people that are coming out of that cluster. I'm lucky - I found out in time.
MeganA 35 Posted December 23, 2005 Oh no. Lisa I'm so sorry. I had always hoped that you would make it through and beat the odds. My heart is broken for you. You've had to endure so much and now you have to have it removed. Let me know if there is anything I can do. Megan
Penni60 45 Posted December 23, 2005 OH MAN LISA! Just let me know when the surgery is planned and YOU KNOW I am so there. I will take you and bring you home to my house for a short recup and then send you home to Chris. This just sickens me to think there is this "cluster" of us that were banded by the same doc in MX and now face erosion and band removal. Pretty scary stuff. I am just heart broken over this. I know you heal from your band removal and we will both go on "Biggest Loser". Wanna play? LOL!! We could really shake up that show before we get booted off. LOL!! OR we could be the winners. LOL!! HUGS!!
cmr 0 Posted December 23, 2005 I am pretty new to this and you guys are scaring the hell out of me. I had my surgery in Monterrey. What cluster are you talking about? I hope everything goes well for you. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Chris S. - L.I. 0 Posted December 23, 2005 Lisa, I am so sorry. I don't know what else to say.
La_madam 20 Posted December 23, 2005 the key is that it's happening to so many of us from the same cluster. Strange coincidence that Penni, Francesca, Lisa and Myself were all banded 1 month to the day apart in MX with 2 diferent doctors and we all have had erosion. Something to be said about that definately! Penni and I banded on the same day 4/6/04 with Lopez and Ortiz and Francesca 5/6/04 with Lopez and Ortiz . I agree that it hassomething to do with either the MX docs and their techniques or the MX bands. Lisa my friend, you know I'm feeling you right now, thanks for the call tonight and Iam so sorry. Damn we need to have a Vegas bash for just us eroders. I'm here for you, I love you girl! We can all do this together. With 4 of us now in such a short time we can have our own support group
casinocat74 0 Posted December 23, 2005 I have a question for you guys...why did you choose to go to Mexico for your surgeries?? Were there not any other areas you could go to for it?
