I have 3 children ages 23, 18 and 16 with my wonderful husband Chad.(none of them have weight issues) Thank God our children got my husbands skinny genes. I would love to meet people on here to share this life changing journey with  I am new to this site as of today...so I am still trying to figure out how to navigate it

My surgery is also a week from today!!! I am nervous but excited. I have two children that also have their father's genes. I am 5'3" and weigh 252. I need to lose 120 pounds. I just want to be put under and then wake up and have it be over. I have struggled all my life with weight. Now it's time to change the way things are done!

Hi Cheryl, I also live in Montana (Great Falls); are you having your surgery at Benefis? If so, I'd love to hear more about the pre-op requirements and how your surgery goes! I've been speaking with Dr. Roher's assistant Lisa; she's been very helpful so far

Good luck to you. It is exciting. I was banded on 09/08/10 and have lost close to 35 lbs since the beginning of my pre-op diet. Feel free to "friend" me.

Sheryl,

You've come to the right place. There is so much to learn here, even from those who have shared how they've failed - you learn what NOT to do; you learn what works and what doesn't. We even get tips on where to shop for the supplies we need and for bargain prices.

Lastly, I like what Csolo said in her last statement, which we can take a lesson from; she said "Now it's time to change the way things are done!" A new mindset is the action towards change. If we continue doing things the same way, inevidibly, we will GAIN the same results.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
