Katy517 1 Posted November 15, 2010 I find that if I don't chew completely enough or try to eat the wrong foods too fast - like meats that are either too well done or too rare - can cause major problems especially after a recent adjustment. Chest pains included. How are you doing with Water and other liquids? Are they going down OK? How much time has passed since the last fill? I see many recommendations here regarding slight unfills to alleviate such problems so wouldn't rule that out. Good luck.
vlp1968 83 Posted November 15, 2010 I agree with the above post, you may need to have some Fluid taken out. Even a very small unfill can make a world of difference. When was your last fill? If it was more than 4 days or so, I would call your doctor. I hope you are keeping fluids down. If your not, call your doctor right away. You don't want to get deydrated. I hope you feel better soon. AlienBandit 10 Posted November 17, 2010 If you can't keep down liquids even hot ones at any point during a day then your over filled. Sometimes in the morning we bandsters are too tight to eat anything but that should pass after a while. If it is dinner time and you still cant eat anything even as simple as yogurt you really need an unfill. Of course after a fill you should take it easy and do atleast 1-2 days of liquids before getting back into eating. However if its been over a few days and your still not able to eat then you need an unfill. The longer you wait the tighter you can get. If youre throwing up a lot that can cause a slip. Trust me being overfilled for a long time isnt fun!
rheaosun 0 Posted November 17, 2010 I had a fill on Monday, Nov. 8 and everything was ok as far as liquids go. I thought after the swelling went down... Saturday or Sunday... I would be able to eat normal food. However, that was not the case... it seemed to get worse as time went on. This morning... I had to sip my coffee super slow and it gurgled on the way down. After each sip... I felt the urge to burp. I called the doctor and went in for a small unfill. It has made all the difference in the world. No more pain in my chest... gurgling or burping. Hope this helps you decide.
AFmom 3 Posted November 17, 2010 I had to get a small un-fill (.25 cc) a few weeks ago because I had gotten to the point that I could not eat solid foods at all, even Soup with soft veggies would not go down. I had been tight for almost 2 weeks, and it was getting worse. I loved the extra weight that I was losing, but once I got to the point where even liquids were difficult I called and asked for an un-fill. I felt much better immediately, but after a few days when I went back on solid foods I found that my appetite had returned with a vengeance, along with the ability to eat right along with that appetite! For the first time since getting my band six months ago, the scale is not going down, but up!!! One thing that this has taught me is how much I need my band. Without good restriction I don't have the will power to follow the rules. I am scheduled for a fill next Tuesday and I can't wait.
Katy517 1 Posted November 17, 2010 I just went through this situation as I was apparently overfilled during my last adjustment. I couldn't keep any foods down at all and even Water seemed to get lodged in my chest cavity. It was painful. I kept thinking things would settle down, but after 9 days finally went in for another adjustment and was unfilled .2 cc. What a difference. Will now be on liquids for two days and hopefully all will be right with my band.
